I don’t think that’s a thing

Wish it wasn't, but it's all I ever hear around here.

It's too bad that the LSU game is practically a CWS game to ULL, when it's nothing more than a midweek game to us...

I think your entire post is pretty much spot on. Only two things I disagree with.

Nobody, even in Lafayette, is saying the Cajuns are better then LSU.

There are a few who will make this argument, but it's very very few. LSU has fans who have totally ridiculous takes as well. Hell, some of them are in this thread. Even the original post is ridiculous. For 99.9% of the fan base, you are correct though. I just wouldn't say "nobody."

Cajuns for my college experience, the atmosphere at The Tigue is unequaled

I can't say you are wrong about this, because I've only been to a handful of ULL baseball games. I'm not even saying LSU has the best atmosphere anymore, but some other SEC programs probably top ULL by far, and I would imagine Alex Box, at its best tops, ULL at its best.

The LSU vs ULL comparison is so tired. They are not rivals, nobody in Lafayette thinks that they are. Cajuns have a SEC caliber park and fan base and are continuing to try to build their brand in college baseball. Top to bottom we are a top 40 program nationwide. LSU is a top 5 program nationwide.

I’ll say this, I grew up with season tickets to LSU baseball in the 90s and it was amazing what kind of impression the atmosphere of the Box left on me, but after playing for the Cajuns for my college experience, the atmosphere at The Tigue is unequaled

Pretty spot on. No one in Lafayette is saying the Cajuns baseball program is better than LSU. No one. As there’s no National Championships to make that argument with.

But the insecurity on here at times is astonishing.

The Cajuns have never been about "gorilla ball" or leading the SBC in HR's.

When Deggs was there in 14 they were one of the top power hitting teams in the country and they also bunted really well and stole bases.

Robichaux (rip) was going to be on the hot seat if they didn't produce this year

We throw inexperienced pitchers on midweek games and they throw a wknd started usually. Its their CWS.

Spot on. That’s exactly why last year we started a true sophomore who logged 0 innings his freshman year and threw less than 20 innings the first 30+ games of last year before facing ya’ll.

We had to make sure our weekend ace was well rested for our World Series.

Yeah, nobody has been saving their ace for midweek games for about 20 years now. Weekends are too important. Maintaining a set rotation is too important.

I've seen times where a good performance mid week catapulted a guy into the weekend, but that's completely different than saving a weekend guy for a mid-week game.

That’s actually a strategy that Robe does seem to have employed for some of the LSU-UL games. Throw out an inexperienced guy who you think has good potential, see if he can withstand keeping the batting lineup of a Top 5-10 program in check, and if he does and shows composure in such a game, maybe that guy can be a #3 or 4 guy by the time conference tournament and Regionals rolls around.

Sometimes it’s paid off and helped a guy shine and mold into such a role. Other times, well...not so much.

While our weekday game/games against LSU pretty much mean nothing for us in the grand scheme of season success, it’s a good RPI game for us, and one where due to the competition and atmosphere, is a good way to see if a borderline starting pitcher or closer can maintain composure and perform.
