Don't think that all. He's just the best coach with the best resume and best fit that is in the realm of possibility.

I think a lot of people think Jimbo Fisher is Nick Saban 2.0.
Who the hell thinks that? Saban is a defensive mind, while Jimbo's background is as a QB coach/OC.

I've yet to see anyone say this.
In fact, people have been nitpicking his resume on the Coaching Changes board.

Well, good for you, you know the difference, but leave Jimbo where he is. That ship then sailed on.

Pretty much the way I feel. Make Herman and Jimbo say no first. Coach O with Aranda and a new, highly-respected OC wouldn't be anything to cry about.
That's pretty insulting to Steve Ensminger. So Ensminger is leading the charge on the vast offensive improvement, yet Coach O gets all the credit it for that and Steve gets the boot? If you want to keep Coach O because of the last 3 games, you have to want to keep Coach Ensminger. Anything else is hypocritical.

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Ensminger if we continue to see the offensive success we've seen the last few weeks. But I'd think we would look around for a young, up and coming offensive mind before keeping him on staff. Really the same goes for Ensminger as with O.

You pick the best available.
That's:
Jimbo
Herman
Kelly
Fleck
A jar of mayonnaise
And then finally Orgeron

Bill Belichik was 36-44 in his stint as head coach of the Cleveland Browns. He was 5-11 in his final year. Five years later, he got a second chance with the New England Patriots. He went 5-11 in year one and since then 2001-date has never had a losing record, has won 13 of 15 AFC East titles, and four Super Bowl championships.
Belichick was preceded in New England by a guy named Pete Carroll. Carroll was head coach of the Jets for one disastrous season in 1994, going 6-10 and losing his last five games. He got a second shot with Patriots and started well but missed the playoffs in year three and lost his job. He then went to USC, went 97-19 with one national championship, and finished in the top 5 rankings for seven consecutive years. He then went to Seattle where he has gone 64-37-1 with three division titles, two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl championship.
Not saying O is either of these guys. Just saying that failing at a head coaching gig ten years ago is no reason to deny him a shot today if he continues to prove out he can coach the Tigers to victory.

Those comparisons are retarddd and belichick did pretty damn good for having to be a coach for the browns. Sick of these comparisons. Also belichick isn't as dependent on Both coordinators as Orgeron is. He literally just walks around, chest bumps, and chews bubblegum on the sideline. All he is is a hypeman

Comparing "failing" of BB and Pete Carroll going 7-9 or 8-8 mixed in with playoff seasons to O having historically bad seasons at Ole Miss when the coaches before him and after him saw 8 and 9 win seasons is just disingenuous

If he beats Bama, he's in.
