First we have Eddie O. Then, assuming we hire Ensminger as the full time OC, with Aranda in the "head coach in waiting role" LSU is stead on pace to become "Hire-From-Within-U"

I actually get concerned that by the time we have suffered enough to get rid of CEO, and appoint DA to HC, this fan-base will be so rabid that the thought of hiring yet another HC from within the program will be un-popular.

I agree with the concern about Ensminger and the general disdain for the Coach O hire. But I don’t foresee our fan-base being upset with the promotion of Aranda to HC in the near future. There isn’t a single fan, booster, coach, player, or analyst who doesn’t know he’s the most talented coach on the staff. I for one can’t wait to see what that brain concocts when he’s in charge of more than just the defense.

No, having Arabda as possible HC in waiting is great. I don’t think many of us would complain about a defensive genius having control of our program. Than we would only need to concentrate on hiring a stud OC rather than hiring a stud OC AND DC

For the record, I completely agree. I think DA as a HC would be fantastic for LSU.

I just can't see Aranda staying if he didn't get some assurance about who was going to be running the other side of the ball. Good defense and good offense are complimentary to each other. Maybe I'm giving O and Alleva too much credit. We will see how it turns out.

I seriously doubt Aranda is the HC-in waiting. In fact, the LSU reporter who broke the Aranda news specifically said that likely wasn't the case. Otherwise, why "wait"? To essentially let Ed O eat into his buyout one more season then fire him? If that were the plan then Ed would just quit today. He's 56 years old and I doubt looking to retire anytime soon. Ed doesn't have a ton of clout as is. To make Aranda the HCIW would virtually make Ogeron useless and a lame duck because everyone would know Aranda, for all practical purposes, is the HC. Plus, the whole HCIW fad is over. The HCIW meme is just baseless conjecture drummed up on this board.

Now, naming Ensminger as full time OC makes sense from a business perspective. LSU is likely going to have to eat another buyout with Canada "leaving" (i.e. being told to leave) so they may want to save some money in light of the fact they are now paying a DC $2.5 million dollars. Plus, Ogeron doesn't know what he wants on offense other than that the OC be a "yes" man.

This is what you get when you hire a "figure-head" HC who is completely reliant on having "the best coordinators". The coordinators actually have all the power. Ed knows that. That's why he wants an OC that wont challenge the little power that he has. The binder plan blew up the second Nick Saban made sure Lane Kiffin couldn't come to LSU.
