Meh, recruiting stars really don't mean anything 4 years down the road.

Based on this, if Oregon wins, Chip Kelly would have to be considered one of the premiere coaches in the country, if not THE premiere coach in the country by all you Tigers. It goes without saying you would all consider him better than Miles

Nice try, just as long as you will go on record admitting the same about Chris Peterson, seeing as they average out somewhere near #40 in recruiting. Oh btw, you will need to admit that twice.

Correct, I have admitted as much, but it is something to kick around. I would venture to say though, that most top programs outside of Boise show well in their recruiting rankings. It's gotten to be much more of a science than it was 20 years ago.

Agreed. I wasn't trying to be a sarcastic a-hole, I was just voicing my opinion fwiw. I understand that it's tough to see that behind typed font sometimes.

I think recruiting stats do matter somewhat. If you look at the teams that have won the NC during the BCS era, it's the teams that attract top ranked talent.

Some kids mature more quickly than others, which is why some kids who were overlooked can certainly come on to play at a high level later. It's more likely a kid rated a 5* DT will play more quickly at a higher level than a kid rated at 2*

A higher pctg of 5* make it to the NFL than 4*, 3* etc.

Its not an exact science and it is highly subjective and sometimes wrong, but overall...those who recruit the best, play the best.

I just get some strange kick out of old outdated 70's phrases. I call every girl I know "Mamma", and tell people " dont give me no static"

Yeah, but there's also a lot of 5 stars that turn out to be busts. Some of the best players sometimes are 4 stars and 3 stars that borderline the 4 star range, they are the ones that usually end up developing mentally and physically more in college

Exactly.....LMJ (3 star) and look what he has done. Oh and he is 20 yds away from being UO all time leading rusher. He will do what the leader did in 2 years as opposed to 4. Not bad for a three star recruit.

I understand. As a trend however, a higher pctg of 5* players are successful than 3*'s. Tracking teams that have won the BCS NC, I believe all finished or have finished in the top ten Rivals recruiting classes.

Individually there may be stories of successes and failures, but overall the higher recruited classes tend to lead to more successful seasons.

Nah. He wasn't the coach for the first one doze4. And we can give him a pass on his first game as a head coach on the road with a brand new o line. How many points do the ducks need to win by for you guys to call for Les Miles' job?

Seeing that Miles stayed around after the Ole Miss debacle 2 years ago, I am gonna go out on a limb and say people here will give him a reprieve if he loses to a team ranked ahead of him minus his starting senior qb and top returning playmaker (Shephard).

say you have a 5 star player and a 3 star player...

if the 3 star player is developed well by coaches, and the 5 star player is not, then the 3 star player will turn out to be better by his senior year

star ratings are very important - but talent development is even more important

To be honest ncg4forsure, I look at this whole situation with our suspended qb and receiver, and our recent offensive coordinator developments as a lose/lose for you guys. If you lose the game, you got beat by a shattered team. If you win the game, you beat a shattered team. It seems, to me at least, the pressure is all on your Ducks now.

Stars don't mean shite, as we have seen with many of our 5 star recruits. Coaching and scheme wise Oregon will presnent LSU with problems on both sides of the ball. However I believe if JL doesn't shite the bed LSU will win.

Offensive line recruiting will determine the winner, not overall recruiting.
