I like this matchup better than against Auburn even though LSU has/had the better D.
LSU gets confused and out of position if you just don't play them straight-up and run a basic high school SEC offense. Ducks will misdirect, throw in some razzle-dazzle and use LSU's DL speed against them so they're constantly out of position. Sort of like UT and what they did to USC. Treams that rely too much on their front 7 and aren't used to PAC 10 playbooks which are Encyclopedias compared to an SEC's 1st grade primer traditionally have problems. It will be interesting if LSU finally finds a competent passing game. Ducks usually start off the year slow and out of sorts so I would imagine an early LSU lead before they start huffing and puffing and sucking wind. Ducks take it in the fourth is most likely logical like Auburn and other SEC teams took it from LSU in the fourth.

You can't be serious using Auburn as an analogy as to why Oregon will beat LSU !

Speaking of the first grade, you should probably go back to first grade English. I feel sorry for you, so I will leave it at that.

Speed at the DE doesn't scare Oregon fans. The DE has to be really disciplined against Oregon or it can actually be used against you. Giving up 440 on the ground to Auburn with all that WORLD CLASS DL talent makes me think that their is a scheme or discipline problem. 4.5 speed can be bad if you are going the WRONG direction. Believe me, we've torched USC the bast two years and they have GREAT athletes in their front seven. That tampa 2 is a bad scheme though.

Auburn's running attack last year was significantly better than Oregon's. And before you go throwing out the the number of yards per game for each team, go look at the average run defense each team faced.

A lot of teams can say they have torched USC over the past two years. USC has not been very good the past two years in case you didn't notice.

The offensive tackles will have an issue with our defensive ends.

This didn't seem to confuse Nick Fairley.

We don't rely too much on our front 7, in fact, we have one of the best secondaries in the nation. Get used to seeing the name "Mathieu" above a #7 in the game.
Also, keep in mind these super advanced P10 playbooks havent done much in helping any P10 team beat LSU in A LONG, LONG time. LSU has ripped off 10 in a row I believe vs. P10 opponents?

The SEC owns the Pac X

Nawlins - 440 yards. Say that to yourself - four hundred and forty yards. Some that can be blamed on scheme. With a guy like Nevis, Sheppard, Peterson...sorry, bro but that is borderline inexcuseable.

We had some major Injuries by AA players by then. The same masoli that was a heisman frontrunner at Oregon sucked it up in the SEC.

I'm really not sure why you keep referencing last year when it has absolutely zero bearing on the game being played in four months.
We did give up 440 yards, but that was against a talented and veteran o-line, something Oregon does not have. A physical freak that won the Heisman and was the #1 overall draft pick, something Oregon will never have.

Masoli had far less talent around him at Ole Miss...far less. Three of the linemen in '08 were drafted and two of them start in the NFL. His wide recievers were freaks and he was handing the ball off to two NFL runningbacks (Blount and Jeremiah Johnson). Justin Roper who fled to division II was winning games with that talent around him.
Also, the offensive line at Oregon is good. It's a staple. Greatwood has been in the program for 20 years, dude. The offensive line guys that will be lining up are the most highly regarded kids we've ever had. We're not used to getting blue chip kids and that is what we've got now. York, Cody, and Weems were all heavily pursued and have played big roles. The diamond in the rough guys graduated last year.

No, but JJ always performs best with extra time to prepare. Since this is the first game of the year, he'll be prepared for the game.
I think he will play ok. Kind of like he did in the UNC game last year. I believe these two games will be similar.

If Boise state can beat you...... Guess we stand no chance!

1)Will LSU have a good QB developed in time to play UO? The one chief week link was QB last year for LSU. Will that link be corrected in time?
quote:
f your going to beat us, you will have to run against us
So QB is really a non issue then.
quote:
2)Will LSU mesh with your new OC and his new offense in time? First game of the year, cob webs usually show then. Plus this is a new offense for you, new OC. What is your thoughts in this department?
It will basically the same offense, Les Miles offense.
quote:
For UO, the Defense will be even better then last year- who was the only team able to stop Cam.
MSU held them to less points than y'all did.
quote:
In total, our whole O-line is a major week link, and with having to depend on so many new WR's, our passing to them is in major doubt.
Game over.

History game eh? So if Auburn barely beat Lsu last year, and Auburn barely beat Oregon last year... and Lsu returns 16 out of their starting 22, and Oregon returns 12 or fewer starters (by my sloppy counting).... then who would you think has the edge going into the game/season*?
*Equation assumes both teams return their QB, Auburn R ded now

Don't bring logic in to this. Auburn steam rolled us on the ground last year, which obviously means Oregon will this year

I believe the QB issue is still unknown through a fan's perspective due to inconsistency. Although, we are in the best position we have been in since the departure of Matt Flynn. I think Oregon may have JJ's number and we will have to abandon the spread attack and Mett will lead this team to glory. I think one area of concern will be replacing the leadership/experience that was provided by Nevis(I know downs, brockers, and freak), Sheppard (Minter and Baker?), and Peterson(stacked at db). The defense is very strong but still young. I am also hoping Rueben Randle can step up and be our true number 1 WR. The new OC is not changing the entire offense, hopefully the playcalling is much improved though. I would still expect to see a heavy running attack. Lets be real, Seastrunk would be #3 on our depth chart at best! That's being generous bc I think Gore should be part of a 3 back rotation with Ford and Ware. Blue will get plenty of work as our cleanup back.
My ideal prediction is one loss at Tenn or Bama. Victories over Florida, UGA, or Tenn for SEC title and Oklahoma, Nebraska, or Stanford in the title match.
