The big worry for UO is not just all of the new blood, and 20 starts ain't that much for a whole unit. No, the big worry for y'all is that you have a new center. The zone read relies heavily on the center, and he might be the most important cog after the QB in your offense.
I am not going to lie and say the oline is not a concern because it definitely is. Last year we always had at least 2/3 seniors, if not all three. They will have to gel and it will require in game experience. I have predicted that this game will be low scoring. However, I will say that both centers didn't give us snap concerns in spring.
btw, we were returing 20 in '09 and this year we're returning 54 with two guys having over 20+.

Low scoring for Oregon I agree, but in terms of LSU I think it's going to be about average from what we expect.

Exactly. I don't expect Oregon to be able to steamroll very good defenses. People like to say the offense is gimmicky. In reality, Oregon can exploit defenses without depth or stout defenses lines. However, LSU is going to stop EVERY offense this year, if it's indeed one of the top 3 in the country.

I think it's a good bet to say LSU will have a dominate defense this year. Oregon will have a good offense statistically speaking.

He looks nice and all on the vid, but his YAC looks to be shite, hope he has improved his lower body strength. Would take Ware/Blue over him all day long.

I believe Alonso will be our best MIKE ever.
Going into this, his RSJR season, Alonso has 17 career tackles, with one of these coming last year. What gives? Are you saying he's better than Matthews? And while we are talking D, I'll ask again that you expound on why you believe your D will be as good as last year.

Bisonduck, you guys lost 5 of your front 7 and in the process: Your top five in terms of sacks Your 2nd and 3rd leading tacklers 4 of your top 5 in tackles for loss Couple that with the Harris situation, and i think its a pretty big stretch to think you guys wont miss a beat. ...

Yeah I was going off of WM's numbers on the news. Was surprised at the difference when I looked up Baton Rouge.

I believe Alonso is better than Matthews but that will have to be determined as time goes on. He is an enforcer if he makes it into the game. He's more athletic, has great instincts and he's very physical. He has the size as well.
Our new DL will be better but that is just an opinion. Like someone else said, Pep was not a very good DT for you standards and his replacement will be better.

After watching the highlight tape Thomas seems to be not as polished as say a John Diarse and certainly not as big.
I would take Diarse if they were in the same class.

Our defensive line has been a little weaker these past couple of seasons than we've been accustomed to. With the line up we'll have this year I feel comfortable that we are on track to get back to being d-line U.

Thomas is really killing it again on Day 2. He and Lyerla, #2 athlete from last year's class, are causing problems for the defense. Lyerla is 6'5" 225 and will play H back/TE. Those are two kids that look like they are going to produce in the LSU game.
T Mitch will likely play next to Gildon in harris' spot.

My intent isn't to make our players look better than yours. Lyerla will be a match up problem for anybody. He is 6'5" and his athleticism is as good as it gets. Look him on scout and rivals. He will be playing because of this. He is showing that he knows the playbook and is ready to compete. Will this win us the game? No. LSU will undoubtedly be the best defense we face. That doesn't diminish Lyerla's ability to see the field. If that's the kind of thing you like to know about - then read my posts.

Well, muddafrick. We are doomed. A freshman with two days of exposure. I personally would be worried about a D letting that happen....but hell I will go with the flow. We quit.

The new weights have been posted. The linemen are bigger and the lbs.
Grasu the center running with the ones is 291.
Weems: 302
York: 292
Grasu: 291
Clanton/Cody: 300/301
Asper: 325
I believe these will be the 5 ultimately selected. Armstrong, the 260 kid, is up to 270. However, he has been 296 and continues to gain weight. Stevens lost 10 pounds and is 305.
The lbs
Kaddu/Bolo (SAM): 235/235
Alonso/Stuckey/Wallace: 240/221/235
Clay/Hardrick/Malone: 225/225/208
The Dts
WDE Hanna/Jordan: 240 both
DT Keliikipi/Remington: 300/286
NT Heimuli/Ebert: 321/285
SDE Hart/Turner: 283/265
Everyone is bigger.
