either Leach was using 'cruel and unusual' punishment making James a victim of his pirate mentality...or James has 'daddy issues', an inflated view of his talent level and can't deal with his spot on the depth chart.
it's difficult to choose sides when the 'truth' has yet to be determined. no matter what, all sides will pay a price.

This. Every team has it's problem players. You don't go lock them in a room or something similarly stupid. This incident just showed Leach got too big for his own good regardless of how bad James may be.

leach did a dumb thing but the kid deserved it. he's a crybaby and a wuss. if i would have whined over a trivial punishment like that, my dad would have kicked my arse, my teammates would have ostricised (sp) me and my girlfriend would have turned lesbian.

Sonny Boy James was at TT for baseball. Didn't show up for practice, or showed up with bad attitude. Was booted from baseball team. Graham Harrell said his buddies on the baseball team warned him about lil James.
Lil James approached Leach about football. Leach asked his Receivers coach to look at his film. Receivers coach (now at Houston) told Leach he didn't want lil James, and that he didn't consider him a Division 1 football player. Leach overrode position coach and put him on scholarship. (A move I am sure Leach now wishes he'd never made.)
Lil James said he got a concussion in practice in mid-Dec. Docs cleared James for practice after a few days. Showed up several days later at practice in street clothes with gangsta hat on and shades. Leach asked him why he was not dressed appropriately for practice. Lil James popped off something smart about needing to have his shades to limit the sunlight for his concussion. Then, Leach told trainers to find a dark, tight place for lil James to spend practice. (expletives deleted)
Lil James cried to Daddy James, who had been a royal pain in the arse to deal with regarding sonny-boy's playing time - or lack thereof.
Admin. used item as tool to boot Leach due to history of bad blood between the egos of Leach and AD. End of story.

From what I've heard from family who went to school there this is pretty accurate.
