I think he has done a good job, especially bouncing back from the Troy debacle. Obviously it never should have happened, but if that is the catalyst to us competing for division and SEC championships, I'm all for it. IMO the Troy loss is ancient history and people that continue to bring it up as a negative look desperate and ignorant.
Beautiful! Why are you dwelling on it?
Your lack of putting that game into any context shows your lack of understanding football.
Correct, it shouldn't have happened. Bigger Romans have fallen further.
ADjust your mind to NOW not 3 years ago

Yes definitely better than expected. He has to win big eventually. But I will pull for him. Let's hope it all works out.

You have to be the dumbest person on the Rant. I specifically worded my post to say that I'm impressed how he bounced back and that anyone who brings up the loss in a negative way is ignorant and desperate....
Try harder.
Eta: I also said this is in the same post...

Nick Saban is on the hottest streak of any Coach ever.
Coach O is in that division.
Until we beat Nick no NegaO will start to believe.
Malzahn is the only SEC Coach to beat Nick - did it twice. His seat is so hot it's sizzliong right now.
To deny the LSU program trending upward right now is intellectually dishonest.

O will not be given 5-10 years to prove he can compete for NCs. If he doesn’t compete this year, Woodward will require him to do so in 2020, even though the team loses a lot in 2020 to the NFL. If he doesn’t, Scott will move on.
If O doesn’t do it this year, he will have to do it next year with a bunch of underclassmen and a new QB or face being replaced.
Just like Miles, no fricking excuses.

No it's not. A trend is more than one season. That's pretty standard.

Miles had no excuse because he REFUSED to change.
Are you seeing that in Ed O?

He's the only ACTIVE SEC Coach to beat Nick and is on the hot seat after five years of 8-win seasons at August since their '13 NC.
More to the point, both Freeze and Miles did it multiple times as well. If we wanted a coach who could put together "pretty good" seasons and finish second in the division every year, why did we let Miles go at all? Orgeron needs to start winning the division to justify the change at the HC position, put simply.

It was past time for Miles to go. The game past him up and he was too stubborn to change his philosophy of attacking other team's strengths to make them bend their will. He was done at LSU and I would argue he was fired a year too late.

00 Tech Grad is absolutely right, and those of you who downvoted his post are stupid a*s idiots.

LSU has a legitimate shot to go 11-1 this year with the talent that is there. Meh to 9-3 type seasons

This, clock is ticking
Woodward shitcanned head football coach and head MBB in his first few years. ADs like their own guys.

AGREE!
Common Ground is awesome!

Trend - the general movement over time of a statistically detectable change.
That's from your link.
As I said. One season isn't enough time to consider a trend, especially since the 2018 record was the same as Miles' last season. All Orgeron has to do is reach the 10-2 prediction most have including myslef, then you have a trend.

You make a valid point, but my question was why did we fire Miles if we were content with 9-10 win seasons and second place division finishes? We were already getting that.
Alabama has Saban.
Texas A&M has Fisher.
Florida has Mullen.
Georgia has Smart.
These are all coaches with championship pedigrees.
If we couldn't land Fisher or Herman, etc., then was Orgeron just a cost-saving move for the athletics department?

You're fun to play with, LoserTik.
From the same link you cite:
a line of general direction or movement

Those are questions I can't answer. I preferred Herman, Fisher, Mullen or an up and coming coach. But, Orgeron has lived up to exceed my expectations so far and I hope he continues to. He has everything in place to do so this season.

No, but Miles was fired because he didn’t compete for championships, not because he refused to change. If his team had made the SECCG even with that putrid offense, he’d still be here.
If O doesn’t compete for them, he’ll be gone too. I’m so glad Woodward is AD instead of loser Alleva.
LSU is expected to be in the championship discussion no matter who the HC is.

Ok then, use that definition. Same record as the last full year Miles got fired and same recruiting numbers. Where is the general direction of movement in your opinion?
