I made a comment in another thread, that if LSU shows up with the same offense they did for the cap one bowl, they will struggle to win this game IMO.

what brilliant insight. If the LSU offense plays poorly, it will be tough to win.

well, I think we have the talent to play with anyone regardless of our scheme and playbook...it just comes down to execution...dont get me wrong I think changes in the playbook should take place but we have the talent to make it go...

Tell you what coach, when you are working for ESPN you can lecture me on insight. Until then you can continue to lick my nuts.

How do you the two teams matching up?
LSU sluggish and ineffective for the first half while UNC's defense manhandles Les Miles and Gary Crowton's shitty schemes.

Les finally decides to open up the offense in the 2nd half when he realizes he is going to lose the game, but it's too late as LSU falls in the final minutes to lose by 10 in an ugly, low scoring game.

That said I will probably be there cheering for the Tigers cause it's in Atlanta and I hope this doesn't happen.

here it is, bro....i'm nervous as fu*k about this game. if we open the season like we did last year (at Washington), you guys will beat our asses. the bullshite i observed at the spring game made me realize that things aren't gonna be a whole lot different from last season, IMHO. furthermore, Butch Davis is a FAR better coach than Miles. I expect LSU to look unorganized and sloppy, which are perfect conditions for a UNC win. now, if LSU comes out and whips arse, i will be totally impressed with Miles. i just don't see that happening, which is based on LSU looking unorganized and sloppy for 11 of 13 games last year, and of course...Les Miles.

The offense that sucks less wins the game. That's a tossup as both offenses sucked last year.

Seriously UNC has great athletes on D and very well could be better on D than LSU is. This could be a 7-3 game where both offenses look pitiful. I'm hoping LSU can run the ball this year.

I really don't get why you people want in depth analysis from a fricking message board? This is not ESPN, CBS, or FOX Sports.

UNC is better than most give credit for. They might not have a good offense, but they seem to make a big play for a score often enough to put up a few points. Their defense is stout, especially the D-line against the run, which will be our only strong point on offense.

I think it will be a defensive struggle, but LSU has a little help from great punting and field goal kicking to edge out a 16 - 13 win.

Guess they are then. I don't get all the love for UNC, sure they're defense is pretty good by ACC standards, but their offense is dismal and they never wind up anywhere better than the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Their offense averaged 23.8 pts/game last year. Even though this was against weaker defenses, it is not liked they were horrible on offense.

LSU averaged 24.8 for a reference.

North Carolina has a great Defense and A great coach in Butch Davis. But their offense is alot like ours. And that is unpredictable. If the tigers can find a QB that won't make mistakes and our Line can provide some blocking for our good running backs. I think we can win. This is gonna be a hell of a game. Our defense is gonna be good. I think it will come down like most games that you have two good teams. Whomever makes the least mistakes will win this game. Of course so much could change between now and then with injuries and summer arrests that could be made.

So there offense is worse than LSU's even though they play in a much weaker league with much weaker defenses? So I was right. I wonder what their ppg average was against FBS teams? Their two highest scoring games were against FCS opponents. And again, all they ever do despite any hype is end up in a lower tier bowl. Their defense also gave up 18.5 ppg against the FBS, which isn't worthy of the hype they get.

UNC's offense has not been very good the last few years. Some of the Tar Heel faithful claim there are justfied reasons. Three years ago, we had no talent, freshman QB. Two years ago, our QB was injured, so another green QB led us to an 8 win season. Last year, almost our entire OL was injured along with our first two RB's and we had all new WR's except Greg Little.

There is a degree of truth in all of these excuses, but I'm not sold that our QB is very good. He's adequate provided our OL and running is in fact improved, but we'll see. The thing for LSU to watch out for is if we bring in Renner at QB. He's a highly touted 4* QB who may very well end up our starter. He's more mobile and better arm than Yates and is supposedly out-performing Yates some in the preseason.

That said, I just don't see us starting a RS freshman QB against LSU's D. Maybe if Yates stinks it up early.

Personally, I think the two teams are fairly evenly matched this year, and UNC is better than most people think. IMO, the game will come down to QB play, TO's, and special teams. Hard to predict this one, but to hazard a guess...LSU by 3.

I expect it to be a very tight game...naturally, I am going to predict that LSU will win, but it wouldn't suprise me in the least bit if UNC won.

QB play will determine the winner. The winner will be determined this summer. How much does our QB's want to learn the offense and man up and grow some balls. Who wants to eat their Wheaties like Peyton Manning and put in the extra time throwing the ball and studying film. If JL or JJ show up in September like they seem to be right now...UNC wins the game. It is all up to how bad does JL and JJ want it. That is what I think it will hinge upon. Otherwise, UNC will stack the line with 8 man defensive fronts and limit our ability to run the ball.
