Our state is poor because for 125 years or so a populist democrat cabal controlled the state. In the early 1970s that cabal put a new constitution on the table that protects the political class and the bureaucracy. It only allows spending adjustments to,higher education and healthcare.

We have allowed the unions and state and local, government to destroy public education. We have our state capital with an airport that makes us look like a very small town.

Our current political class argues about how to raise taxes and stop incentives to recruit businesses when all of our competitors are trying to figure out how to lower or eliminate taxes and raise incentives. As long as our political class is going down the tax increase path there is very little hope for progress.

We have a great research university. It should be spinning off all sorts of start ups and technology. But it is not.

We have very little angel or investment capital here locally. New Orleans has a little bit.

Anyway. None of our economic woes have anything to,do,with the football program

He was a terrible and lazy hire. Where would you honestly rank O in the college football coaching world?

I’m from Texas and when I look at the Louisiana economic system and how things are run I want to throw up. Leadership is a joke in Louisiana

And only ONE Fortune 500 company in the state and it is located in Monroe. Why is that all the other southern states are drawing in auto manufacturers, yet Louisiana gets nothing? Taxing the equipment and machinery within plants and facilities is prime example of why they don't select Louisiana. Politicians are the problem...

Nobody forced anyone to join the TAF and pay big bucks to do so. And by the way the LSU football program is a very successful business that makes mega bucks for this university. We'll see what happens with E and O and if needed, financial adjustments will be made to secure other coaches.

mhc dropping a truth bomb.

As a former Democrat voter, I'm partially responsible for our state's decline.

FWIW, New Mexico, Kentucky, Alabama, West Virginia, Arkansas and Mississippi are lower than Louisiana on a per capita basis.

Louisiana is dysfunctional. Always has been and probably always will be. Quirky and unique . It has a coach that fits it well.
