Because I witnessed first had behind closed doors John Brady coach. The players ignored that dude constantly. He had 2 good seasons ever and it's because he had phenom talent!!! Stromile and Jabari then the BR bunch. Look at how bad his other seasons were when he didn't have exceptional talent.

Yeah, I remember you having connections and calling the Butler matchup. I know the Wampold's very well and they are avid basketball fans, but Brady haters. There is no doubt in my mind Jones is better than brady and Johnson

Hickey scored the first seven points of the game, and then sat for the last thirteen minutes of the first half while the 9 point lead that he built got destroyed. That can't be debated.

I totally agree choupique. I just don't understand how they can't break a 2-3 with our size...as a team. Zone d blows this teams mind.

They just are streaky shooters and solid ball handlers. I'm just spoiled from d-Mitch days.

Do you see a top 5 lottery pick in this draft with 2 other multi-year nba players and even starters? Darrel Mitchell has been playing overseas and tearing it up for a long time, Lazare as well. Big Baby and Tyrus would humiliate Mickey and JOB down low

There's no doubt Hickey should have come back in with about 5-6 minutes left in the half. I don't mind sitting him for the majority, but when TQ was not plugging the gap, Hickey should have gone back in instead of Stringer. Stringer was shooting lights out, but turning it over at an alarming pace as well

CJJ panicked by pulling Hickey with 2 fouls which let them in the game. This is solely a coaching error and it can be argued that the game would have been different just by this substitution

So Brady had nothing to do with Mitchell and Lazare? Baby and Tyrus were natural talents, but there is more to it than just rolling the ball out and telling them to win.

Keep in mind also how much tougher the SEC was back then compared to what it is now.

Keep in mind part II, Brady navigated us out of Lester Earl-gate and made us a respectable basketball program for a 6-year stretch.

Sorry, Brady > Jones until proven otherwise.

We always knew that next year was the year, but a lot of us hoped we moght crack the tournament this year. It's disappointing only because of the way they played up to RI.

This team just doesn't look like they enjoy playing together. This loss stings more for me than the RI game.

Also, Marshall needs to be introduced to tanya Harding

So Brady had nothing to do with Mitchell and Lazare

Taz and Martin are very comparable their freshman year, and Taz was a 5-star as well. Lazare was a Senior, come talk to me when we have a senior low post player, a top 5 low post player, and then another fringe first round talent low post player all playing together that year. Not to mention one was SEC POY

It made us respectable for A year with Stromile and Jabari, then we were putrid then Collis Temple helped get the BR guys here. I'm not saying Brady didn't have things tough with the Lester Earl stuff, but CJJ came in where we had a 6'5 PF and a band member playing down low...

I've been saying this all season too. I admit that I myself set unreasonable expectations for a team with two 5'9" guards and a young team. If we struggle next season, I'll definitely be pissed at Jones. But he deserves another season before we crucify him like we have. A weak football season has not helped with anything.

Here's the results under Brady between the 99-00 year when Stro & Jabari made the sweet 16 and the 05-06 year when we made the Final 4 run.

2000-01: 13-16 (2-14 in SEC) No postseason
2001-02: 19-15 (6-10) NIT 2nd Round
2002-03: 21-11 (8-8) NCAA 1st Round
2003-04: 18-11 (8-8) NIT 1st Round
2004-05: 20-10 (12-4) NCAA 1st Round

If that's putrid, I'll take putrid if it means steady improvement and semi-consistent NCAA appearances compared to where we are at now.

Had All-World (at least in my view) Jaime Lloreda gone AWOL we'd have been a sweet 16 team. So that 2004 squad could have easily been another NCAA.

Brady might have been an arse, but he did have some shitty luck. The 2001 squad post Stro saw Lamont Roland blow his knee out and I believe Brad Bridgewater was lost for the season too. Before we lost Lamont, we had a decent record.

There is no dispute that he was a douchebag, but if you looked past it, the dude did pretty damn good job in bailing us out of the Lester Earl shite and fighting Dale Brown's shadow.
