re: One play I didn't see discussed here was the base hit in the 9th to tie the game.

Yeskie did him no favors but it was just shite luck that Jump had some of his worst stuff of the season in that outing.

Luck, or the result of pitching on two days’ rest?

Coming in for a pitcher who had just struck out 3 in a row

This is an unfair criticism. He was positioned for a barrel on the ball hit.

OR..... Coming in for a pitcher who didn't make it out of the first inning against Wofford the day before.

I can play that game too. If Ack had stayed in, meanwhile they showed Jump warming up, and Ack blows the lead then you would be crying like a bitch bc Jump didn't pitch. We lost with our best pitcher on the mound. You have to live with that.

It was poor outfield positioning. To make it worse, the hitter unc had up wasnt a guy with even decent power. I get playing deep to take away the double in some instances, but there, we couldnt afford a tie, so playing no scores on a single made more sense.we were holding on for dear life as it was.

In baseball I believe in what have you done for me lately. He just struck out 3 in a row. He looked on fire the same way that Hellmers did. Wofford was an off game and another day. Some could argue he went all out in that spot knowing he only had to pitch one inning though.

I would have kept Ack in until he got into trouble, but we'll never know what would have happened. They could have gotten to him just like they did Jump. And, I also understand the idea of giving Jump a clean inning over coming into trouble.

My issue is we couldn't score more, but it was one of those tight games where a mistake was likely going to cost someone. That's tough.
