My grandfather was in the hospital and my dad was up there with him. My mom and I were huge baseball fans, didn't miss a home game. I can remember her checking me out of school for regionals. So it was just me and my mom at home watching the game. Tim Lanier was my favorite player and when he struck out, I yelled a curse word...I don't even remember what I said. My mom told me to go to my room and as I was walking down the hall she started screaming...and the rest is history. We hauled arse down to church in time to catch 4:00 mass. The team came home the next day and they had a celebration in the Pmac. My mom passed away in 2021 and LSU baseball season will never be the same without her.

CBS did a phenomenal job on the call.

A most wonderful example of "less is more."

Damn! You're right. I never realized that. I think they went a full minute of just letting everyone soak it in. Impressive.

I was about to get married. Did not get ready until after the homerun and was late. Needless to say I got to see it b4 my consummation a month later. LOL

That's always been a hallmark with CBS. Pat Summerall was masterful with dramatic NFL endings. Jim Nantz always did a great job at the end of the NCAA title game letting the winning team and their pep band get the attention.

Sounds corny but my family didn’t follow sports, only my Mom and I were and are LSU baseball fans. Just as she and I were the only ones watching the Miracle on Ice, she and I share that moment of euphoria watching the ball carry over the wall. When I am 100 years old and can’t remember my middle name I will still remember that home run ha ha.
