How is it possible to swap all your starters in such a short period of time and still have quality starters?

I don’t think it really matters who their “starters are”…their clown of a coach is going to be changing pitchers every 1-2 innings like he did in the earlier series.

They have cycled through Friday “starters” all season with it really being a bullpen game. The Friday starter against LSU got his only start of the year in that game. We saw the disaster that was. Their starter in Game 2 was their Friday starter in their first 3 SEC series. They followed him up in that game with their 3 best relievers. They obviously thought that would be their best bet to cobble together a second competitive game after conceding Game 1. LSU got to them, but LSU’s pitching let them down worse. They pitched their best 3 starters in Game 3, though Bosma who actually started hasn’t pitched in a couple weeks to end the season. Zach Lee has been their best starter all year and pitched in that game, but didn’t start. Strickland who is starting now also pitched that game.

Guidry was a SS not too long ago.

Travinski was an afterthought to start the year.

The first pitcher Kentucky threw at us pitched 9 innings all year.

Things change.

Interesting that their staff is that deep, or is it really shallow?

Bosma was their Saturday starter for most of the SEC season, but hasn’t pitched since May 13 after compiling a 6.34 ERA in SEC play. Zach Lee was their Sunday starter except against LSU and had a conference ERA of 4.34. Those were their only true starters in conference play. They leaned heavily on their bullpen.

So kind of like Sparky Anderson aka Captain Hook?

Yes they have a relatively deep bullpen. They have a lot of quality arms but they don't have that elite starter. But they have a lot of arms out of the bullpen they trust.

To me UK pitching is the baseball equivalent of the No Name Defense. No elite pitchers, but they seem to just keep rolling out quality arms like a conveyor belt.

They were gifted a regional host because they have a high RPI even tho they lost 6/7 sec series to end the the season.

This is 100% correct actually.

The way that LSU has been pitching the last few weeks and even the last 2 weeks and with the offense playing well, we can beat anyone. I wouldn’t worry about the opponent, I’d worry about our game. Which is exactly what they’re preaching to them now and probably the whole year.

That prepared them for this type of play. The offense needs to stay in there and the pitching needs to just keep doing what they doing. We have a huge advantage in Skenes and we can now throw everything at them in game two, just like they will but we now have a little more than they do for game three IF we need it. Imo after the regionals, the pressure is on Kentucky! If it was a super regional, we would have been done in two games against anybody. There aren’t many teams out there with the firepower that Oregon showed. They could do it in so many different ways. Kentucky will have to play the game of their lives to win game two.
