On 6/8/1991 Tigers won their 1st Ntl. Baseball Championship

On 6/8, 32 years ago our LSU Tigers defeated Wichita State 6-3 to win our 1st National Baseball Championship! I was so happy to be in Omaha at the top of the bleachers even with 3rd base throwing Mardi Gras beads each time we scored and throwing the remainder of my bag of beads at the end of the game! All the fans below us regardless of the team they supported were happy to witness our celebration!

Most of the posters here probably couldn’t name the LSU starting lineup that day
Just referring to the youth of many of the posters. Not meaning to insult anyone so I apologize if I’ve offended anyone. I see I hurt some feelings and I truly feel horrible about that.

that was awesome! I remember after 1986,1987,1989 and 1990 would we ever win the CWS or just continue to come close. If I'm not mistaken, Skip and Krzyzewski developed a friendship a year or so earlier as LSU baseball under Skip and Duke Basketball under K followed a similar patter. Then,Duke won the basketball title in April and LSU won the basketball title in June.

I would imagine 99% of lsu fans couldn’t name the starting lineup on the baseball team 30 years ago

You're right, but back then I could recite the lineup easily. But back then the lineup didn't change once the SEC games started (unless because of an injury).

I remember that game well! Wichita St. was still a strong baseball school in those days with Stephenson as coach...
