while you are probably right, we should still hope for the best possible scenario after that. that still entails lsu's opponents being ranked as high as possible. lsu, even if undefeated, can still win the west and beat highly ranked opponents. wanting ole miss to lose is wishing for a lower achievment for lsu. it undermines lsu's body of work, plain and simple.

Ole Piss losing is always a good thing, unless they lose to Bama.

I think I misunderstood your point. Sorry about that. I thought this was in context to Ole Miss going undefeated (best possible scenario) and us losing to them, then still winning the west.

Ole Miss losing undermines Ole Miss's body of work. That makes me smile.

Careful, they will put Penn St and California on the podium in the blink of a USC loss.

I believe the opposite...I think they are under more pressure now...they already was under the pressure of coming into the season with media hype and high fan expectations now having to play with the bulls eye on their backs and they fell flat on their face the first time out the gate against a good team...now they know they can't afford another SEC loss or their chances of going to Atlanta are gone...

When was the last time an SECW representative was chosen not based on record or head-to-head tiebreaker...but on ranking?
don't know. what i can tell you is that it matters

A. TWO-TEAM TIE

7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game.

B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE

8. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the SEC Championship Game.

so again, at this point in the season, why root for ole miss to lose? it weakens lsu. ole miss winning would help lsu in the event of a tiebreaker, help lsu get a better ranking via sos, help lsu get a better bowl and possibly get in the ncg

and then beat us
if lsu loses, then for purposes of making atl, what lsu wishes for gets completely re-evaluated. remember, we wanted ole miss to win AT THIS POINT in the season. that would have been the best possible scenario because we don't play south carolina

It is irrelevant to LSU's 'body of work'. LSU needs to win, and the body of work will speak for itself. LSU's fate is in it's own hands, not in the hands of it's opponents.

this couldn't be more false. lsu's body of work is DIRECTLY determined by the quality of it's opponents. when ole miss loses to unranked south carolina, lsu's sos is reduced thus affecting lsu's "fate".

btw, i think it's totally hilarious that the webels lost. typical of their losing mentality and indicative of nutt's career habit of losing when favored. i said before the season that i know a lot of people in ms who are going to be disappointed with this season. there's no way they could live up to those expectations

This statement is absolutely idiotic.
ANYTIME an SEC West opponent of LSU's loses, it's good for the Tigers(especially Alabama and Ole Miss). Where do you come up with this bullshite, anyway...I mean to tell you, some of these threads are just oozing "dumbass"...

This makes no sense. In a 2-team tie, the only tie-breaker needed is head-to-head. That's it.

good grief. we go through 7 pages of justification on precisely why it was bad for ole miss to lose and you jump in with this

i didn't get it either. but i got it straight from the sec website. i wonder if they have to put that out there in case a game gets cancelled and they can't reschedule or they are unable to finish it due to weather.
