He went to the mound to pull a struggling pitcher, I think it was Paul Byrd....he said son it's not your fault, I take all the blame here for recruiting your sorry arse.

That's not exactly what he said, but Jay certainly needs to take a hard look at his process for evaluating high school talent.

Kids aren’t the same anymore. If a coach said that to these kids now a days, they’d prolly file lawsuits.

Or run to mommy and daddy and have them give coach an earful.

"Lack of timely hitting'" is the one you're looking for.

Not as bad as what Rogers Hornsby said to Jimmie Dugan.

I'm guessing the conversation went downhill from there, damn Skip.

Walking pile of pig shite. And that was the day his parents came from Michigan to see him play.

If a coach said that today the player would deck him on the mound

The on field performance of the last two recruiting classes, particularly at the plate.

That is what I said the other day. I posted a caveat though. The rankings of his recruiting classes have been unreal and that extends across Baseball America and other services. The one warning sign I saw the past 2 MLB drafts were that these supposed #2 LHP or #3 shortstop or #45 prospect overall always seem to drop dramatically from their expected draft position. That leads me to believe that the recruiting services' rankings were BS or MLB teams made huge mistakes by not drafting those players at all or drafting them in the 18th or 20th rounds. So far it looks like the MLB teams gauged their abilities a lot better than the services and Johnson did

This is a lot to type out when you could have just said you don't understand the MLB draft process.

A guy like Cam Johnson not getting drafted until the 20th round has nothing to do with his talent. MLB teams do not waste picks (in the first 15 rounds) on guys they won't sign.

A guy like Paxton Kling who hit .570 and was the gatorade player of the year withdrew his name from the MLB draft/made it clear he wouldn't sign. Sometimes guys like Kling and Neal just don't pan out. Sometimes they take a long time to get adjusted to the college game and breakout as juniors (Payton Stovall). Sometimes you don't push for a guy because you're certain he'll sign profesionally and then he ends up on campus (Lavoillette)

You're also leaving out guys like Misiorowski and Snelling who Jay identified before they exploded onto the scene and became extremely high draft prospects are domianting at the professional level.

Baseball recruiting is entirely different than every other sport's recruiting process and should not be evaluated in the same way.

I don't describe. It was a simple google search and this was the shortest vid.

If you watch the SEC doc, Hold The Rope, you will see this interview and many more really good ones from several LSU players and Skip.
