You assume all this “revenue” goes into one pot of money. It doesn’t. Auxiliary services work differently than the academic side of things. Parking money goes to athletics as well as maintaining parking lots, streets, etc.

It doesn’t just go into a university account and get distributed.

Also said 250k bring their own food, drinks, and then a good many leave before the game even starts. They’re only there for the party. At least if they charge them to park, the university gets something out of the deal.

Are you saying the entirety of the Old Front 9 will no longer be available, or that the parts still available will be pay?

I have no problem walking and I'll park in the hayfield lots and walk from there, I'm not paying for parking and will walk as far as it takes. But the Old Front Nine was very convenient for me so I'll certainly miss it in that aspect.

Explain to me how LSU made money off of free parking all those years? Then had to pay for the clean up the following day? The AD's job is to make money for that department. Without Bertman, the buildings around campus would still be old, and worn down, and TS would still be one of the worst stadiums in the conference. I never had a problem with paying for parking. It was going to happen sooner or later.

This is the 2025 map that was released in July. Is it not accurate?

Since about 2010ish. I say it all the time, LSU tailgating is living off legacy. They just take more and more. We used to tailgate on Nicholson in front of the Natatorium from 02-to whenever they started roping it off. Once they started having parking passes for every single lot, is when it started dying.

I would hope the map is accurate. But a friend that drives through there daily told me it looked like the entire Old Front Nine is roped off for equipment and material. It doesn’t make sense for the ENTIRE Old Front Nine to be used for that purpose since the construction site is not that close. I can understand a portion of it but not all of it.

He was going to give me a report today by driving down the street that bisects the Old Front Nine and give me an accurate report.

Half is fenced off. The enclosed area had mountains of dirt on it last week as they are preparing that footprint for construction. That parking map is not accurate.

LSU did say that parking spots for the displaced student parking from the dorm area will be added. If "added" means putting in a paved lot, then game over for Free. they will make that permitted. And if they build the New Arena, then the lot will probably continue to be a laydown yard for that project. It is blocked off on the Burbank and South Quad entrances. No project has ever been completed in 3 weeks, so this seems to be here for awhile. Why would LSU give out a parking map in June and not reference the OLD front 9. i won't be moving to another area because i'm sure that will infringe on other tailgaters . It started for us on Nicholson sidewalk 25 years ago and it will end this year. sa-la-vie

For anyone wondering, the lot will be open for football season. No restrictions on tailgating in the area as far as I know.

You do understand how much fricking money LSU makes from us going to 7 home games a year right?

New Orleans and Baton Rouge boast among the highest murder rates in the United States. So there’s that.

Not just LSU too, many local businesses profit off the large crowds.

I do. And that money funds every other sport we have plus football. So any chance they can get to monetize something, they will. I’m not in favor of it.

But I am in favor of fans assuming some of the cost for the havoc they cause on gameday. There isn’t any “profit” off parking money. It’s mostly a wash as the AD basically pays back the university to make repairs to parking lots and spaces around campus that get f’d up during the season

so you say all this will be gone by the first game? if so, do you mind telling us what is going on with the lots?

They’re building a “temporary” gravel lot for the offset of the parking being lost by new dorm construction. I think that’s already been stated in the thread

They’re supposed to be complete by the first game

Nah, that lot is good to go. Been tailgating there since they moved the golf course, so we’re grandfathered in. I spoke to LSU officials about it and they said it’s all good. Still free, but just for a few crews like us.
