Picture that really brought back memories are the ones showing the oak trees outside the stadium. Had a lot of good times walking under them to games.

The entire facility should have been renovated and turned into the womens softball facility. No, we're gonna get a nice "public eyesore" gravel parking lot, at least for a few years. ........

no it read LIMESTONE doesn't that mean nicer?

They surveyed years ago about turning that into a premium RV site with hook ups etc. Basically it sounded like a KOA on campus

if i was a contractor, that'd be a tough job for me to do. i really wish they could've saved it and let the high schools play playoff games there. just didn't want to see it go. i'll prolly shed a tear passing by it this weekend.

Went out there a few weeks ago on a Sunday with my lil Tigers...saw a gate that was opened...we walked around every where...took a lot of pics...grabbed some dirt... thought about all the good times and great memories there...changes the program went through when I started going to watch the Tigers play in '84. No SEC or National Championships, no K Lady, Chris Guillot, Birdman, Coon's Corner or Gorilla Ball yet...goofy promtion nights...the San Diego Chicken...cheerleaders and a small Tiger band at some games, yea that was too weird,...seating pretty much wherever you wanted to...watching many great players from opposing teams play there...winning all those Regions and Super Regionals getting to Omaha and watching Bertman, those coaches, players and fans turn that ghost town into the Mecca of Baseball!

A little of this...

but lots of cheers to the old Box!

Do you remember the rusty chicken wire backstop that either the foul balls came through existing holes or they made a new hole and bounched around in the grandstand.

The girlie girl part of me says the pics with Skip remind me of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes when Idgie returns to her home after Mrs. Otis died, and Evelyn drives up and Idgie tells her "Somebody stole my house..." To me, that's what Skip's emotions were probably like. Its so sad to see the old Box go. We can only hope that the magic of the old Box truly did find its way to the new Alex Box. RIP Old Box, We'll miss you!
