I laughed last night when Gundy said, "We think our defense is much better than people are saying."

It looked decent to me against OU

It could that their offense scores so quickly (over the season) that their D is left on the field alot?

people need to admit that OSU is a dang good team

What was the Saints "defensive rank" When they won the Superbowl?

Where do the Pats, Saints, and Packers defenses rank this season?

They have the #2 offense in the entire NCAA.. and force the most turnovers.. Stats don't mean crap when you score an incredible amount.

Their defense showed up huge on Saturday night against a preseason heisman hopeful QB.

I honestly don't think it would have mattered if their defensive rank was in the top 20.. Bama was getting in regardless. They did everything they needed to do. They had all the pieces they needed to have fall.. and they still came up short.

But, deep down, you know that Bama was the better team...why? Because of their defense.

The problem with your logic is that if LSU hangs a bunch of points on Alabama and OSU beats Michigan 56-10, the perception will change. Alabama will be perceived as just another Arkansas or Georgia - a 2-loss team that didn't deserve to be in the hunt. And everyone will wonder if OSU might have been the better team, if only they had played LSU.

That's why it's a travesty that the BCS violated its one and only stated goal: Let the MNC be determined on the field, not at the ballot box. By going the rematch route, the only thing they guaranteed is that the MNC will NOT be determined on the field, it WILL be determined at the ballot box.

As an earlier poster said, all I heard from analysts last night was about the quality of Bama's loss vs. the quality of Okie's loss. I'm not sure when that became a factor - oh yeah, because it helped Bama.

I think they are a good team...deserving of No. 3...but I think Bama is better.

Your opinion. The equivalent of voters picking the "better" team. Why not let it be determined on the field?

Well, if you are going to look at the quality of the wins, you also have to look at the quality of the losses.

I think that Bama is a more complete team, and I am sure the voters feel the same.

LSU absolutely manhandled some of the best offenses in the country, while putting up gobs of points of lesser defenses.
