What does the "arms folded" gesture mean after hitting a home run?

BTW I have been watching LSU baseball since I was a freshman in 1966. Back then we would just walk over to the Box and find a seat in the bleachers. Attendance was about 200 per game. No admission required. How times have changed! For the better, I might add.

FYI I had a class with Pete. Funny guy.

More FYI Tuition was $104 per semester for a full time student. Stadium dorms cost $85. Fun times. I will never forget the LSU experience. I tuned in, turned on and dropped out. Spent several years in disarray, went back to school at Troy and finally graduated (with honors) in 1982. I love to tell people that it only took me 16 years to finish college. (Masters degree in 14 months. I was motivated.)

I have the Tiger eye tattoo on my shoulder. Look for my post every September about its origin.

Geaux Tigers!

If I'm correct, it was started to mock the SEC umps after they started warnings and throwing people out of games for excess celebration.

As if to say "no jumping or high fiving" or we'll get warned, so no emotion and cross the arms to conform to rules.

I’ve seen it done in the majors as well. Not sure where/when it started.

Randy Arozarena has been doing this celebration after hitting home runs for a good amount of time. Not sure if they took inspiration or not though.

Dusty Baker invented “The High 5 “ .

I’m sure TRant will have this mystery solved by game time tonight.

“Thug Life” -its a gang symbol the bloods and crips do. It translates to “I’m hard” and “you better step off”

It's a softer and legal way to give a middle finger salute to the opposition...

Maybe the OP has a life and doesn’t spend all his time on here like you and doesn’t have every thread committed to memory like you do.

I think I saw an interview where Tommy White said the team did it for him, but that he didn't really like it or something but it's this team bonding thing now.

The origins of it stem from things like rap album covers with the dudes standing there acting like a “ bad arse”.
I know that good old run dmc had it. I can see some one like ice cube doing it. That kind of stuff.

To me it's like "Look at me" or something along the lines of admiring what was just done.

Basically it's showing off.

I think this is the correct answer. It’s a playful way of acknowledging Tommy’s thug presence with the Mr. T starter kit and all that

He a gangsta

And I say that jokingly. So I hope nobody gets their panties in a wad this morning over it

I don’t really care for it, but like I always told players I coached . If you don’t like them doing it . Don’t give them a chance , stop them …..

Not much to it….just a form of taunting that is permissible currently. Just the players celebrating their success!
