re: Ok, Don’t blast me but why is men’s bball struggling so much?

Hiring someone not familiar with SEC basketball conference was a mistake from the beginning.. not saying McMahon wasn’t a decent coach but when you step into SEC competition the bar is raised alot higher than the weak smaller conference McMahon previously coached in.. the competition to recruit and bring in bigger better players is a hard sell when you’re competing against coaches such as Oats, Williams, Beard, Barnes etc in the SEC conference..add in the Transfer portal and NIL and McMahon’s previous record from last year he’s got a tough road ahead of him unless he can hand out millions from the NIL.. the mess we saw last year with no improvement was bad but I’m not seeing anything I haven’t seen this year to say that it’s any better actually much worse to be honest.. he’s hanging his coattails on one player whose ineligible at the moment and may not be a member of the team for the rest of the year..for every loss this teams going to suffer the rest of the season the players will lose confidence in this coaching staff.. with not much onboard for next years team how long will the LSU administration allow this to happen.. with the stupid contract this dude got, he definitely ride off as a con man instead of a college basketball coach for LSU…

This is my biggest concern. The seeming lack of development, improvement. Say what you will about the relative talent level and yes we can debate about what happened prior to CMM's arrival has or has not hindered is ability to bring in better than what we have.

But from my view I just want to see the talent we have play to their capability, and to develop and improve. IMHO I have not seen that yet, and to your point improvement and development seem stagnant and I would say last year it regressed as the season went on.

I don't want to see that, I want him to succeed. I want him to prove me wrong. But to this point - at least in my opinion, that is not happening.

I'll say this and I was a big WW fan, those guys were not gonna stop - those guys being Dick/Forde et al. And one can try to rationalize the double standard applied therein for guys they liked vs. WW but they were not and did not apply anywhere near the pressure for those other folks in fact they applied next to none relatively speaking.

Saying Woodward should have stood tall against it - yeah I wish he would have too honestly, but it wasn't exactly apples to apples. Yeah, he maybe would have been able to outlast the NCAA when all was said and done but the PR due to that blatant double standard was going to be a constant gauntlet the other folks would never have to face.
