The 12-1 next to Oregons name vs the 11-1 of the Big 12 champ or Alabama will have a HUGE impact on human voting. Too many voters are somewhat uninformed and will simply put Oregon at number 2 based on that.

True, Goob, but since 2003 the computers play a smaller role. It will be a razor-thin margin and Bama may actually hold a small lead in the computers when the smoke clears, but I think the human polls put Oregon in because:
a.) Oregon would be a conference champ. There are voters who believe that if you don't win your conference, you shouldn't be in
b.) There are more voters outside of SEC country than in. They will not want an all SEC rematch for the title,
c.) Oregon, by playing the extra game, will get an extra week to impress voters.

d.) Penn St will continue to slide, which will drag on Bama's SOS a bit

The big 12 computer scores >> PAC 12.
Oregon may very well be behind BOTH ou & osu in the computers. If this is the case, Oregon would need 100% of the second place points AND bama to steal votes from the ou/osu winner.
A rematch can happen, but the voters would have to choose to make sure it happened.

I agree Fish, I have been saying the same thing for a couple of weeks now. PSU will ultimately hurt Bama in the computers because they will lose to Ohio state and Wisconsin.

Yeah but Bama plays Ga Southern and Oregon can still play USC and the Pac 12 Championship game + we beat Arky (Bama's best win)
How does Bama stay ahead of Oregon then?

Bama most likely won't stay in front of Oregon. I'm sure a few voters will choose Oregon, and that would be enough (w/ the computers) to move past them.

He's a typical Bammer Doofus. Bama's 2 remaining games are unranked GA Southern, unranked Auburn. Meanwhile, Oregon (already nipping at Bama's heels) still has a ranked USC, Oregon State (not sure if ranked) & a likely ranked Arizona or UCLA in Pacifier 12 title game. If Oregon wins out, how can anyone w/ half a football brain not understand that Oregon will zoom past Bama come December 4th at 7 p.m

This guy, like most of the BCS prognosticators, almost always underestimates the human voter element and relies too heavily on the computer numbers. Oregon as the PAC 12 Champ will get more votes AND they will get a bump in the computers by playing the extra game in the PAC 12 Championship.
actually the problem with the BCS prognosticators is they don't know dick about how the computers actually work

Why not Clemson or VT? They have a title game too

i think with him being a bama alum and on espn the more he talks up bama he believes he can persuade the voters.HE NEEDS TO GO.

The sooner everyone realizes that espn is merely sports entertainment and nothing more, the better off we all will be.

He is Alabama grad, what do you expect him to say.

Yeah, you have to take what he says w/ a grain of salt, esp. since his first predictions were flat wrong. Sort of like how you have to take Rivals' recruiting rankings w/ a huge grain of salt.

Actually Auburn is still ranked, and Geo Southern is ranked ahead of Oregon St. The Pac 12 south rep will not be ranked and will probably be right around .500
On another note Oregon falls in the same category that Bama does. "REMATCH", if you think voters would be crazy to vote in Bama for a rematch then how and why would they vote in a worse loss by Oregon? OH becuase they won the Pac 12, ok. The entire Pac 12 has 2 teams ranked! The west alone will have three in the top 5.

imo its been in the making for the past decade..after the SEC dominance of the bcs in the 2000s..why would it be a surprise to see an all-SEC championship?
to those lsu fans who don't want to see bama again..why not? i get the 'we beat them at their house already' but don't you want the best possible matchup in the bcs game? i do. i don't want to give anyone an excuse to whine about lsu and bama is the only team to have played us tough this season (not taking anything from arky or georgia..just going on the schedule so far)

Herbstreit just said that they'd probably play Arizona St.
Why would an anemic ucla go to the championship?
Both are 4-3 in conference and UCLA beat Arizona St. UCLA still has to play USC though, and Arizona St. only has Cal and Arizona left.
