Treydez is going to be a monster this year, I fully expect him to be all over the 1st round mocks and preseason AA lists going into 2026 and to live up to the hype. He set the single season record for receiving TDs for TE at LSU (7, 2025).

I think Lane is going to run a lot more 12 and 13 personnel than we typically see in this era (mirroring the new NFL trend), to the point where I think our TE#2 and TE#3 could easily be more impactful than any of our skill guys beyond WR1 & RB1&2. Lane loves scheming his TEs wide open, lord knows he did it to us when he was at Ole Miss.

A couple questions:

-Do we all just assume Malachi Thomas will be the #2? He's got the most experience after TG but really not much (15 career catches).

-Is Zach Grace considered more of a 6th lineman than pass catcher in this offense? Looks like he lined up at FB a bit at Oregon.

-Did we hear much during camp about JD or JC? I know we like them both as prospects.

My (somewhat) bold prediction for 2026: our TEs will catch more total TDs than our WRs (last year it was 11-9 in favor of WRs)

From the Dandy one:

Trey’Dez Green 6-7, 240, Jr
JD LaFleur 6-7, 253, RsFr
Malachi Thomas 6-4, 225, So
Zach Grace 6-3, 235, RsSo
JC Anderson 6-6, 230, Fr

Not sure about TE3 being more impactful than WR2, but agree with most of what you said. Green will be outstanding this year.

Cannot wait for football season, it may be a special one. Especially looking forward to seeing how our DL and defense in general plays against Clemson

That's fair, it's kind of a hot take. If it comes true it means we're running 13 personel a lot AND the RB room is incredibly productive (therefore we're just not throwing it to our WR2 very much).

For that reason, I'm also really not that concerned about all that unproven depth at WR. Like I don't think we're going to run 4 (or 5) WRs out there very often at all. I think we're really only going to need 3 WRs (barring injury) that we can rely on.

As you can probably tell, I'm super bullish on the TE room given the trends we're seeing and Lane's scheme.

From a few practice reports I read, it seems Malachi Thomas is more than adequate to be TE2. A poster on another LSU who went to practice said he is better than Bauer Sharp (I know lol)

yeah I'd assume Thomas and Lafleur are battling for TE2 spot.

Bauer ended up leaving a lot to be desired. I really had high hopes for him.

Maybe if he had better coaching it would’ve made a difference.
