I don't understand why people think that JJ would have been a different QB if he had time to develop.??????
Development comes with experience in reading defenses, and being well coached in the film room. It is obvious that neither of these are being accomplished.
Can anyone point to a time when JJ actually audibled at the line of scrimmage? Can anyone explain why a coach or coaches wouldn't use our WR's to take advantage of deep soft zones that Vandy was in due to their inexperienced secondary?
The fact is that the play calling is vanilla and predictable. The QB read play is telling as to JJ's ability to read defenses or watch film. He keeps the ball 95% for no gain. The short outs and curls are worthless routes and will continue to erode the ability to maintain or recruiting of top WR's in the future.
Herm Edwards put it best on the telecast Saturday night when commenting on the play calling and not using the talent that we have.

im not saying he shouldn't get some reps....i just don't think he should start. Not yet anyways.
I think JJ shocks the world against State. If he doesn't...put Lee in.

We are rated next to last in passing offence in th sec with jefferson...how can you get any worse? Waite untill we get to the hard games and one could be state.

Then who should get the snaps this week with the first team? Split 50/50?

I will be shocked if he steps up in the pocket with a quick release..to LSU of course

it's sad that we need a sticky for this.

You said that about vandy before the game

Les's ego does seem to affect his decisions; he may want to stick with "his guy" longer than other coaches. While I believe everyone can agree that JL will not be breaking any passing records, JJ's progress throughout his stay at LSU is abysmal. This list of things that JJ can do well at the qb position seems to be shrinking every time he takes the field. I hope that JL gets a fair chance to get some quality playing time before the tougher opponents on our schedule. If Lee has mentally overcame his past blunders, I believe he has the tools to help our team have a great season.

if miles says jefferson gives us the best chance to win well then we're in trouble... lee can not be THAT bad

What would lead you to this conclusion?

When? How long do you let JJ continue to waste the talent we have at wide receiver before you make the switch?

Thank you Chicken, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Sick of little booger pickers who've probably never played a down of real football in their lives, unless techmo bowl is considered f-ball, starting the same thread over and over and over!

I would do something between 50/50 to 75/25 for Jefferson/Lee.
I think Les should go in with idea that Jefferson is the starter. If he seems to be struggling due to his own faults after a couple series(or end of the 1st quarter) I would bring Lee in.
I interpreted Les's comments as he still feels more comfortable with Jefferson at QB, but not by much. I think he was about as clear as he could be in his comments that Lee will come in if Jefferson is not effective. We don't see Lee everyday in practice so we are not really knowledgable enough to know if Lee is actually a better option. It easy for us to sit on the couch and say it can't be worse, but our job doesn't depend on the decision.
I think the fanbase should be happy with the way it appears it will be handled. Just starting Lee for the game is about as dumb as just not considering him from an outsider's perspective IMO.
I hope Jefferson performs well in the game and if he isn't effective Lee will get a chance. Hopefully one of them will perform to the level we all want and will lead us to an SEC championship.

I dont personally know either of them JJ or LEE and iam sure they both are fine young men, but if we are rated allmost last in passing 112 yds a game then we need a change. If he is not willing to at least give LEE a chance to start then there is ssomething wrong with the head coach. Three yds and a cloud of dust might be good in the big ten, but we play in the sec and if they stop our running game at this point were ;;;;;

jj may be the guy the coaches and chicken believe in and want to do well, but we cannot get into the meat of the sec schedule and continue to let him perform how he has been.
This is why Lee shouldnt start. So you want to start Lee who hasnt proven shite either. If lee sucks it up and we go back to JJ it would have been the same old same old. and JJ would only have two starts before we get to the meat of the sec schedule.
If JJ sucks it up against miss State, not even the whole game the first 3 series, then Lee should come in. That's my take.

It's only been two games and last year we had a horrible OL evident by the fact we couldn't run the ball at all.
Jefferson was solid in the first game and definitely considering we were up big mist of the game. It was the a unit problem in the UNC game that the passing game wasn't more effective.
The Vandy game was just bad; therefore, he should be on a short leash. If he is ineffective to start the Miss St game Lee should be brought in the game.
Also we have played some decent teams and depended heavily on the run. I don't think we should look to much into the passing offense ranking just yet. It is such a small sample to judge.

I said all last year Lee needs a series or two a game. Last thing you want is for JJ to fail and a cold backup to play. JJ hasn't proven he is going to take the torch and run with it and not playing the backup more may come back to bite Miles on the arse.

Frankly, I cannot fathom why the staff almost immediately moved him from QB to several other positions when it was apparent in 2008 that neither Lee nor JJ was necessarily destined for greatness. You sign the number one dual threat QB in the nation...and you don't even try to groom him as a QB? Just odd.
And you know this how?
Cus ill tell you what i know... Shep moved himself to wr not the coaches. And he did it halfway through last season.

What?
Solid? How so? Did he have stellar passing yardage? Sustained drives when we need it? Did he even throw most of his passes where the receiver could catch the ball for extended yac? I do realize there were a couple of big plays, but OVERALL..you would say his performance was good? Really?

So the competition is going to get harder, so you disregard the teams that we should have done better against? WTF?
