I saw some promise from Jefferson from the beginning in 08. Thought he would progress.
Turns out he hasn't turned the corner. He should be playing a lot better than what he is right Now with all the offseason work he put in.
But will the lee curiosity kill the cat?
I think it's the chance you take at this point

I have no idea how he will perform, but I have a really good idea by now how JJ is going to perform.
this is the point! 20+ pages of statistical comparison are pretty meaningless right now. "if it aint broke dont fix it" clearly its "broke"....
perhaps we DO have a nailgun on the bench

Look at the completion percentage of Lee's last five starts or the last five games in which he played; take your pick. He completed over 50% in only one game. The trend is a downward sloping line. That's regression.
Jefferson made five mistakes against UNC, but he also completed over 71%
Jefferson has regressed in every game since the middle of last year. (well he did play well vs Auburn and Tulane) just cause the STATS don't show it, doesn't mean you can't see it on the field. STATS don't always present the entire picture. he's still locking on WR, still not reading his progressions and still seems to be mystified by coverages other than Cover 2.
Jefferson made 5 mistakes against UNC, it's because he was only asked to throw short passes. 13 of his 15 completions went for under 10 yards for a combined 79 yards. that's just not getting it done witht he talent we have on the Outside.
quote:
Lee 2008 = RS Fr = True Sophomore = Jefferson 2009.
trust me i can equate that, but why are we still calling Jefferson young? he is not a young QB,therfore should not be making rookie mistakes. he is in his 3rd season as a starter and looks worse than when he was a TRUE FRESHMAN playing.
quote:
He's played two games of his junior year
and he's looked bad and worse in both. there's that downward trend you talked about earlier.
quote:
Again, what in the world makes you think that Lee can throw it better than Jefferson?
The game performance almost solely favors Jefferson
again WATCH more football and stop relying just on sacks. the eye does not lie. Lee is far superior the passer than Jefferson. if you can't see that then you're just blinded by your loyalty to LSU.

All practice reports say that JJ has looked better than Lee in practice since the fall training camp started.
Unless you are getting different info than I am getting
what reports are you reading? every report i've heard except form Miles' recounts has said that Jefferson has struggled and Lee was gaining ground on him.

This is what I am starting to sense. If you yank JJ now, his confidence is shot. Let him start, if he does well then great for him, if not you can let JL start taking some series. If he does well, then he will continue to play. Why throw him to the wolves if you can ease him in. That may turn out the best way to reintroduce JL to build his confidence back up.
quote:
ill agree with this...its the only card miles has to play...not bad..ill buy this
i've said in another post that a memember of the TAF has said that this is why Miles won't replace Jefferson. he doesn't want to destroy his psyche. this guy also says Miles won't be here much longer either.

JL will win games for you. . .but he will lose them as well.
JJ will do neither. . .which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
it aint good....
Id rather take JL winning a game over JJ not losing...and JJ has already lost games for us so the point is invalid...107th offense = Losses

Attempting to use NCAA rankings after two games to justify your argument is beyond ignorant.
Those rankings are completely misleading.
If you don't understand the logical, statistical, and just plain common sense reasons for that, you are hopeless
for someone who basis STATs as his central argument, i don't think you can discount this STAT. we played a UNC Defense missing all 4 starters in the secondary and only Comleted 2 passes over 15 yards. next we play Vandy who doesn't have a secondary player that will play on Sundays and manage 96 yards passing. all this after finishing last year in 100's in passing yards per game in the NCAA. it's that recurring trend you always like to talk about rearing it's ugly head again.
but i do agree with you, i don't think Lee's past makes him look appealing to the coaching staff and some fans, but Jefferson's present is down right awful. i believe Jefferson should get the start on Saturday, but if his ineptitude continues, there needs to be a change.

so are JJ's stats that you use or present as "facts"
BOOM

FAIL
stats are skewed....
Miles informed opinoin means about as much to me as a purple piece of shite...my eyes dont lie...and miles aint no magic man...

This is the biggest diff I see in the two qbs.
Lee's time uber crowton...3 seasons and 2 games.
Jefferson's time under crowton... 2 seasons and 2 games.
Now I think lee will get his tome to shine against miss st. And I really hope he shows more emotion than he did against la tech or I'm afraid his playing days are over. This is still why I think u start JJ. Lee has akways seemed better coming off the bench.

so how short is the leash on Jefferson. If he isn't playing well by the half, I figure the coaches have to change something up.

Why don't you apply for LSU head coaching job, TigerFan555?
Sorry Lee's not the answer. If JJ can't hack it, put someone else other than Lee. I donate too much money to watch sequel #3.

LSU cant afford me

Lee was sacked 8 times the whole season in 2008. Jefferson was sacked 9 times in one quarter the playing time behind the same OL in 2008. 2009 Jefferson was sacked 34 times, he is at fault for not getting rid of the ball. No ability to recognize blitzes and he doesnt want to make a mistake.
Lee was a Freshman, he will be better. Put him in!!!

Again the only thing is lee was a rs freshman. He was on the sidelines during the 07 season. Now he may be better, but in his third year he showed zero improvement. Just as JJ has showed zero improvement.
Lee will play I have no doubt, bu like miles said it's a game feel. So either JJ is sucking it up, which I hope none of yall or hoping for or he will only get some scrub time at the end of the game, but either way I would bet money lee sees the field on Saturday.
