re: Official QB Thread...(do not start a new thread to discuss QB's)

I agree with you Housplants! Just look at the previous game statistics. Only 112 yards total from all the receivers on this team. Hell, we have probably one of the most talented receiving corps in the nation. We can't blame the offensive line because there is plenty of protection, not to mention that JJ has yet to be sacked. It's clearly on the QB and his inaccurate passes. He either thinks he is throwing to Manute Bol or Mini Me. Regardless, most decent QB's in the NCAA would be licking their chops to have the opportunity to throw to such a talented group of receivers!!!

On Jordan Jefferson playing "comfortably" and Jefferson running the option...
"More aggressive, not necessarily more comfortable. I just want him to play and have some fun. I don't know that, that is necessarily comfortable. I have not seen that (Jefferson's discomfort with the option), so that observation that you make is not necessarily born out in vision. The 26-yard loss on the pitch that was mishandled by the back, if you look that, that was handled extremely well by Jordan Jefferson and was going to go down the boundary. It could well have been as significant a play as their option, so we are going to stay with that. It's an opportunity to affect the defense and make them line up with width, and we enjoy it. We think Jordan Jefferson does have the ability to run the option. I think it gives him the opportunity to play aggressively."
Do you still like him? This demonstrates extreme obstinacy.

My two solutions to our QB problems:
1.) Play JL. Our offensive playmakers are at WR on this team and our OLine is better at pass blocking than run blocking (I don't care how they looked against a tired Vandy team). Play the QB that can get the ball to our playmakers best.
2.) Run Michigan's offense using RS at QB. Run all of the zone read plays and QB sweeps that Michigan runs and occasionally pop a pass in there.

This is what I would like to see also and I have said it from day one of his being on campus. With a weapon such as this needs to be used as often has possible and until the defense is able to stop him. With Crowton it is just the opposite "if they can't stop it we will we just want run him any longer."

Here is a quote why, to me, he is so successful when he has the ball in his hands and why he needs to be the man in control of the offense.
quote:
On his explosiveness...
"I think I can score every time I touch the ball. I feel like if I didn't feel like that something would be wrong. (Stevan) Ridley thinks like that and (Patrick) Peterson feels the same way. I feel like when I touch the ball I need to help this team. I owe this to the team to make something happen."
He has had a big play in most of the games he has played in and why the Coaches will not put the ball in his hands more often than they are is crazy to me.

quote:Uhhhh . . . do you have a link to where "Several of the receivers said back during the Summer they had tried to get him to come out to the practice facility and throw the ball around with them and he told them no!"
I copied this from my post in another thread and wanted yall to read it also. I feel this what is missing in JJ, he has no work ethic.
Several of the recievers said back during the Summer they had tried to get him to come out to the practice facility and throw the ball around with them and he told them no! For a QB to understand how his recievers run their routes and to work on the timing of those routes it takes work and lots of it.
Because if you don't have a link, I'm thinking you're completely full of shite.
Or maybe you think Russell Shepard is full of shite:
quote:LINK
"Jordan was one of those quiet guys, but he's opened up now, " wide receiver Terrence Toliver said. "He took the receivers under his wing, got lined up with the offensive line, making his reads. I saw it happening today. I think he's made the leap."
Said wide receiver Russell Shepard: "He was the first one here every day (in the summer) and the last one to leave. He took a big jump, and we're going to fight behind him."

Chicken..I don't think anybody in their right mind is ready to 'annoint' JL because of 'one pass.' That's simply ridiculous. People are ready to see a different guy at the helm because of the completely apathetic play of Jefferson with just about EVERY pass!
To put it simple, it's less about JL's greatness...and more about completely uninspired play by JJ despite having 2 full years as a starter under his belt.
We know what we've got with this year's JJ...let's see what this year's JL can do...maybe...God willing...he's ready. We can only hope.

If I were Jarrett Lee I would tell Les Miles to
Stick Jordan Jefferson up his arse and I am out of here. Now when he crashes and burns you figure out
what you gonna do. Chicken you can ban me but I have just had my fill of Miles and his crap. This will be his last year.

If he is trying to sell us on there being an open competition for the spot, and Jefferson giving us the best chance to win, then he must really think we are idiots.
I really want to get the video from WAFB's 10 PM sports last night with their player interviews. Jefferson was quite petulant and basically sounded like he was reading from one of Choctaw's posts defending him.

IMO, everything that was said in the press conference yesterday is a nail in Les Miles' coffin. I get the feeling that he has reached that mindset that he is going to get his salary no matter what and is being stubborn now. Jim Haslett took this approach his last year here. And then when Miles is fired, he and JJ can walk off into the sunset holding hands and talking about what they "want" to do.

This is a very valid comparison, as is the DiNardo/Tepper comparison. I really like Les, but he is really stubborn and contrary to boot.
I posted several weeks ago, before the UNC game, that I had talked with someone very involved in the LSU program and Alumni Association, and he was unenthused about the season, as Les told him that JL looked great in practice, but he didn't know how he would react in a game, while JJ "just doesn't get it". And if anyone thinks otherwise, he knows his seat is getting quite warm. Said Les was a lot more upset than Maneri about ZL signing with the Dodgers, as he finally thought he had a QB, he just couldn't be as vocal in order to leave his QB's he was left with having some confidence. Take that FWIW.

Well you heard it tiger fans (Miles and the Media)he is sticking with JJ until the ship goes down..are you suprised...he is a fricken idiot.

Jefferson looks like Aaron Brooks reincarnated! And we all know how that played out..... Haslett went down with Brooks...looks like Miles is gonna do the same. Just my thoughts

My question is:
How bad does Jefferson have to play and for how long does this bad play have to continue before Lee gets a chance.
I hope it doesn't get worse than the Vandy game.

It's obvious JJ does not read the Rant. He is quoted in this mornings Times-Pic asking the fans to be "realistic". Obviously, the Rant is not known to be realistic!

realistic? How much lower do I have to put my expectations for you JJ?
nvm I'm sure you'll be much better once miles and crowton dumb the playbook down for you once again.

If I were JL I would request a sitdown with LM and GC after practice and plead my case to at least get some significant series saturday night.
Maybe he has already, who knows?

CLM feels really cofortable for his future.....He's set. But his assistants arn't..... More than just LM will flame because of his stubborness. He could have put JL in the Vanderbilt game early and if he flamed he could have put JJ back in and silenced the JL backers forever! If JJ is that sensitive to substitution, he's in a world of trouble for the rest of his life. To me, JL got no chance early for that exact reason, if he had sucess, JJ was done for a long time if not forever. Why do we practice revolving RB's and have a different view of QB's? McClendon used 2 QB system without all this BS...58 NC had two QB's, White and Go team. This is IMO just a hard head old man proving a point. And I'm 62.
