Yep, there goes Ross, wonder what he will be thinking now. Maybe improve the bat and try and break into Top 10 rounds next year or sign for $100k-ish this year.

It will be a tough choice for sure, I would definitely stay and try to improve upon that. Anything outside the Top 10 rounds to me now = come back if you can.

We're in the part of the draft now where you see guys getting drafted from schools you didn't even know existed. Franklin Pierce University? Menlo College?

Yea at best he comes out next year and hits about .320 and is a top 5-7 round pick which is a couple hundred thousand at best with no leverage to negotiate and all. He probably should just go and start developing right away.

Here's an article with some quotes from Palladino. I'd be very surprised if he makes it to campus.

LINK

quote:

“It’s a phenomenal day, a dream come true,” Palladino said. “I’m a diehard Yankees fan. To get drafted by the team I grew up watching and going to see as a little kid, it’s crazy. “I was sitting in my kitchen. I had my laptop out. I had a couple of my friends over and my family was there. We were sitting there, watching it, as the phone calls came in. It was an intense moment. When we got the call, we went crazy. We were throwing things. We were all excited.”

quote:

“We’re going to start negotiating, go from there and see where it takes us,” said Palladino, whose fastball regularly reaches 92-93 mph and has been clocked as high as 96. “This has been a dream since I was a little kid, playing T-ball. If everything’s right, I’m going to want to sign and start my professional career.”

As a senior he wouldn't get any more money in that range than he'll get this year.

That is awesome for Cotton

Some were thinking he may even go undrafted or at best well after round 20.

Yea Gausman at least talked about having a great opportunity to fall back on and play for LSU if it didn't work out.

Well I was assuming if he did improve the bat he could improve his draft stock to get a significant amount of more money.

Katz really helped himself by coming back, for instance. He said for teams not to draft him last year, but he wasn't even close to a 4th round prospect last year.

Cotton could be a good lefty specialist they bring in to get one out.

He would have to make a pretty remarkable jump. Even Katz slot is 400k or so, and he won't get that either.
