With the way this draft is playing out, are we going to have some numbers issues?

We always have numbers issues, this year we may have more than usual though. Here are the numbers at this moment (classifications would be for next season)...

Returning
1. SR. Broussard (could be junior with redshirt probably)
2. SR. Ibarra
3. SR. McMullen
4. SR. McCune
5. SR. Fury
6. JR. Foster
7. JR. Sciambra
8. JR. Moore
9. JR. Nola
10. JR. Glenn
11. SO. Laird
12. SO. Chinea
13. SO. Bregman
14. SO. Devall
15. SO. Barash
16. SO. Newman
17. SO. Reynolds
18. SO. Sewald
19. SO. Butler
20. SO. Stevenson

Decision to make
1. SR. LaMarche
2. SR. Jones
3. SR. Rumbelow
4. SR. Ross
5. SR. Eades

Now obviously most of those decision to make guys are gone if not all so far, but cant assume one way or the other as it's still completely up to them at the moment. Let's go ahead and assume they will all be gone though for best numbers scenario. Our signing class includes...

1. Justin Williams SS
2. David Palladino RHP
3. Nick Longhi 1B/LHP
4. Tyler Allen LHP
5. Parker Bugg RHP
6. Alden Cartwright RHP
7. Dakota Dean 2B/SS
8. Jarret DeHart RF
9. Jake Fraley OF
10. Andrew Mitchell LHP
11. Christian Peleaz LHP
12. Jared Poche LHP
13. Kramer Robertson SS/2B
14. Jesse Stallings RHP
15. Cade Stone LF
16. Troy Whitty RHP
17. Dylan Williams RHP
18. Charlie Yorks CF
19. Danny Zardon 3B
20. Kade Scivicque C
21. Connor Hale 2B
22. Brady Domangue RHP
23. Zac Person LHP

Only the top 2 guys have a decision to make so far, and let's once again assume they are both gone.

20 returning players, 21 signees = 41 total players

Roster limit is 35. 6 of those guys in the returning list + signees (3-23) combined will not be on the team next year it's looking like, at minimum.

The 2014 class is off to a great start also. We have Perfect Game's current #1 players in Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois committed.

Usually that's not the best thing, but this year and last are keeping my hopes up more and more

Adam in your opinion will that be a good thing? Will we still able to field a top 20 team next year?

If you're talking about bringing in a top 5 class? Yes that's a great thing.

If you're talking about the attrition? It may bring out a few angry heads of the parents but it'll establish the best players have a spot.

With guys like Nola, Bregman, Ibarra, Glenn, Longhi, Fraley, Laird, Chinea LSU is once again going to be loaded with draft able talent.

LSU is going to start out top 10 next year (in respectable polls)

This is the exact opposite of 2009 when it seems we lost all the major recruits when we thought we would keep half of them.

I, of course, assume that you include the TD Poll in that list

Is there a thread on these guys yet? I want to check this out

Well we do lose Ty Ross, Katz, cotton, eades...

Is Palladino a definite loss? I thought the yanks had a bunch of high picks and a limited cap.

Without mentioning names I think it is pretty easy to get to 35 from that list, but it will play out in the Fall.

On the recruiting board there was talk that Tyler Allen was having some off field issues and was possibly not even playing this past season. Has anyone heard an update? His curveball on the draft tracker video looked pretty good.

That's the same class as the only good players to come out of it was Katz and Cotton I believe. Wow.

They do, but he is from New Jersey and is a fan. It may not take much to get him.

Yeah I can definitely see the names in question both on the current roster and the signees. It's definitely possible to get down to 35, but it will probably be a little uglier than normal.

Back on Page 8 someone posted a link with Palladino talking the draft pick and it certainly seems like he has every intention of signing.

There's going to be no point in holding out hope for him all summer. He went in round 5 to a team he loves out of a JUCO school.

Then you throw in the attrition that will need to take place and you'll figure out Mainieri will give him a pat on the back and wish him good luck.

True, but I've noticed several of the commitments in that class are great students, 3.5+ gpa and mid 20's ACT scores already for some of them. We seem to be identifying high level players that are also legitimately concerned about education also. Obviously that goes out the window when you're a top 50 type pick, but could be a factor for the borderline types.

Adam, I know you're high on Dylan Williams...is there any reason there hasn't been much draft talk about him?

Yeah, I was going to ask if we have any big name pitchers coming in.

I think he is our only incoming pitcher who got the PG 10 rating. Fastball topped out at 92.

I follow Tulane baseball also, they have a really good class coming in and Rick Jones is finally having some luck in the draft.
