The class is going to be pitcher friendly undoubtedly and the Tigers should keep the 5 drafted players of (Glenn, Nola, Goody, Fields, and Baranik) which is fantastic in my opinion.
Obviously getting one of either Cave or Eierman would help this class immensely... I think without both it's still a top #15 class.
Last years recruiting haul was unbelievable with guys such as Jones, Gausman, Eades, Ross, McCune, Rumbelow etc...This class is slightly behind last years in terms of pure talent.
Good news is Mainieri should be bringing in a boat load of pitching talent to go along with the great future sophomore class in shaping up one of the deepest staff's LSU has had in a long long time. Add the fact that a respectable pitching coach is coming in and things are already starting to look up.

You might have just made me a little excited.

we need some hitters though
Posted on 6/8/11 at 3:51 pm to LsuTool
1. Hanover(2b)
2. ???
3. Jones(CF)
4. Rhymes(LF)
5. Nola(SS)
6. Katz(RF)
7. Bruno(1b)
8. Ross(C)
9. Lowery/Edward(DH)
I think we'll be alright, but we could use a little more out of Ross and Nola.

no way

Where would you send Katz then? I mean I think he goes to the OF, but he could go to 3B I guess.

Hey Adam,
Out of Yocom, Barrios, Moore, and Powell, who do you see contributing next year? Could Yocom take Ja. Jones' spot at 2b if he moves to the OF? Does Moore or Powell overtake Ross/Snickeris at C?

6th is too low IMO. I see him at the 3 or 4 hole all year.
Posted on 6/8/11 at 4:03 pm to AstroTiger
Yeah I wasn't exactly listing them in batting order, but more of a these are our guys we have next year. An a close look at where they were this year/possibly next year.
Posted on 6/8/11 at 4:03 pm to AstroTiger
Agreed, Astro. Kid can flat out rake and should fit nicely in the 3 or 4 hole. RF is probably where he will be, but he played just about every position at Jesuit.

Immediately off that list, Barrios.
Moore and Powell I have seen grow up and both can flat out rake it at the plate, the competition they have faced in high school however is no where near what they will see on campus this fall. I'm intrigued by both of them, both are great all around players. I don't think they overtake Ross unless his hitting tanks again, Ross' defense has been great.
Yocom right now I would have backing up Hanover at 2B.
Arby Fields should contend for the starting spot in LF when fall ball starts.

Adam how does my list look about our batting order(not necessarily the rank, but the people and position.)

Mine would be
1. Hanover (3B)
2. Rhymes (LF)
3. Jones (2B)
4. Katz (RF)
5. Nola (SS)
6. ??????
7 through 9 same as yours.

I think your 2-4 are a lot to handle. The way I had mine set up you get at least one of our best in each case. With Katz, Rhymes, Jones in order you really don't have the RBI potential later in the order.

I think you're 4-8 look pretty good. I think Jones is going to mature alot of the next year and finally be inserted into the leadoff spot.
Posted on 6/8/11 at 6:37 pm to CajunFootball
Hanover is not a leadoff hitter. He never will be.
Posted on 6/8/11 at 6:44 pm to The Boat
Don't know who it's going to be. I wanted to put Jones up there, but he didn't look good this year when he hit high in the order.

I have to ask:
At what round/pick should the draft end? After say 1000 picks, should they should do free agency?
I just ask because it seems sOrt of ridiculous that it goes this long.
