Why would he leave a better gig at a way wealthier university for LSU?

I can't see it. Unless the urge of being called home is that strong, theres no objective reason to believe LSU AD is superior to Texas A&M AD. That's an uncomfortable reality. To be clear, I don't mean the individual programs but particularly the position of AD at each place.

From a personal economic stand point, Texas > Louisiana. Then theres the ins and outs of the job. I'm not familiar with the politics of higher ed in Texas like I am with Louisiana but its bound to be a more favorable situation there. With the constant cuts to higher ed in Louisiana, we've seen LSU athletics used as a political volleyball. King Alexander has been more of a hindrance to athletics than a friend. What AD wants to work for a boss who threatened to cancel the money maker football season. It also appears that it was Alexander's pressure to suspend Wade.

A&M has a massive alumni base floating in money which has been manifested in a plethora of facility renovations. Meanwhile, LSU downsized and then canceled plans for its nutrition center which lead to the program lagging behind its peers.

think you've got to include Danny White at Central Florida in any serious list you'd make. He's the hottest young AD in the country and he's got SEC connections from having worked at Ole Miss and Louisiana connections from having lived in New Orleans growing up (his dad Kevin White was AD at Tulane two decades ago).

I wouldn't mind seeing him on the short list.

I have heard his name mentioned by some folks close to the action over there, in the context that he's on the radar.

And he'd come here. Buffalo to Central Florida to LSU is a very sensible career path.

Plus, as much as you want to gripe about his national championship squawking, he's got the built-in mean-on for Alabama and their hatred already locked in. Makes him a good fit.

is he another yes man left over from the good ole boys? If so, he’s not what we need to shake things up.

Another layer: His dad succeeded Alleva at Duke. His brother is UF bball head coach
