I was born in Baton Rouge but grew up in Lafayette. Lafayette>Baton Rouge all day long. I always wanted to go to LSU and did. I graduated but did takes courses at USL during Summers. The classes were easier at USL and I was a struggling student. So....? Thank you USL! There was always a "little dog complex at USL" People there genuinely hated LSU. A lot of it is LSU's doing. I was in a class and the teacher asked if me and another girl were transferring to USL because it was a senior level course. I politely said no. She said "No, I am just here to get my "A"". That sorta crap poisoned the well.
USL is a big college. When I went they had 19K enrolled. That is bigger than both Alabama and Mississippi schools in the SEC. Yet LSU got a large part of the funding and respect.
30 years later my middle daughter loves Lafayette and wants to go to ULL (Mainly because it is cold as shite here in the Winter and she loves Lafayette)
This rivalry is very real and the hatred intense (Mainly on the ULL side) Going to LSU we never gave USL a second thought.
Be nice everyone. The Super Regionals are a big deal. Many great programs didn't make it. Let's enjoy the games and it will be what it will be.
