Official Gameday Thread: MSU 67 vs. LSU 57 FINAL
All of you whining about the officiating were probably the type kids that took the ball and went home after getting outplayed on the court/field.
The Tigers played bad. They've not played well in a number of games now, losing three of four.
The officials didn't decide this game. MSU outplayed the Tigers and & Stansbury outcoached Trent.
Fail

For evrlsu - I understand the frustration, hell I just hit the door, butttttt we played like crap and all you have to do is look a numbers. Yeah there were some very questionable calls but as I said we will not get far in the tourney if we can't handle the refs letting them play. Look at the Big East etc... Rough games. Sorry if I sounded like an idiot but really follow the numbers. Peace

We'll do fine if the refs include US in letting THEM play physical

Let the sucking off of MSU begin....holy cow.. We beat these f*ckrs TWICE, won the SEC by 3 games, hard to get up for these guys again...bring on the REAL tournament. Regular season champ rarely wins this thing...

Wow!! I would listen to the 2 refs for sure. But we still cannot play and not make free throws and win. We will run into this again. Did'nt mean to step on so many toes. Sorry, it's just my opinion.

We DID play like crap, no doubt. But I would like to be able to play like crap on an even playing field.

FYI most of those guys are employed by several conferences

That is a pity. Maybe we could put 6 refs on the floor then since they miss so much.

This loss is in no way attributed to refs. This was a piss poor shooting performance today. Some days the shots are there and others not....but they need to move without the ball a whole much better if they intend on moving in the Tourney. They have no inside presence offensively and if the gaurds don't get better looks and separation, we will see another loss. They need to rememeber how they played in January and they will be just fine.

- Both teams actually played pretty bad today and I believe both teams shot around 30% overall. The free throw stats were something along the lines of 7 for 11 for LSU and 22 of 33 for state. State won by 10 points...how did the awful officiating not determine the outcome of a game in which both teams played pretty poorly? State had 15 more points than LSU from the line and won by 10.

Also, from playing sports my whole life...when officiating/umpires control the game like that, you lose your emotional edge to win. After it becomes obvious they are calling a one sided game, you typically start losing your drive and "fall apart".

I've been popping in here during breaks without posting, but I think you just summed it up quite well with two simple sentences.

Think about the mental aspect of basketball. You can play like this because the ref is not calling it or you can play like that because he is calling it. Everytime State went to the basket we were called for the foul. So we back off and they continue to go to the basket and make their shots. On the otherhand, we go on their side and get beaten to death and no calls. So we are tentative because they can bounce us around like a pingpongball and block or contest our shot that we eventuall alter because we can't get any calls. I am not gonna go as far as to tell you we would have won, but Vanardo would have backed off some with 3 or 4 fouls on him.

Chris Johnson. No defense. No offense. No heart

+1. Did anyone see when he hit the deck and didn't get the foul and just fricking laid there waiting for the whistle instead of getting back on defense?

And what the frick was that airball he threw up? Was that the shot we were looking for?

Probably frustration. Try to draw a foul and think you got one and they decapitate you and no call. However he should have gotten up and tackled the culprit down court. We could have used a little excitement.

Basketball is a lot like the trenchs in football you can call holding on just about every play and you can call a foul on just about every play.

For the people that say it wasn't the refs and MSU wanted it more than why did they score 25 more points in free throws and win by only 10?!?!? Same free throw percentage. Bottom line is with the names of Kentucky and Florida going down yesterday and also bubble USC they wanted to make sure more than Tennessee and LSU got in. Watch if AU doesn't beat Tennessee straight up the same crap will happen so AU wins to make sure at least 4 teams get in.
