I worry about NFL coaches and recruiting as well as adapting to facing college offenses. Success in the NFL doesn't always translate to college.

I agree.

DC is the most important coach IMO.

I would love Leonard from Wisconsin, but not sure he would leave his home. If so, that would be awesome.

I would really try to gauge interest in Kevin Steele.

Has to be Grantham or Leonhard. Pay them whatever. Moving to the 4-3 with two true DEs would suit our personnel perfectly for the next 3-4 years. Don't need a damn NFL DC/coach. Need a proven college DC to keep this train going.

As poster above said, Steele would be solid as well. Proven SEC DC with 4-3 concepts.

I always thought we were way too critical of Steele.

He definitely has improved.

He is one of the brightest defensive minds in college football, IMO.

I understand still unlikely, but much more likely to pull than say the Wiscy DC.

I just hope we aim big.

Agreed. Need to shoot big. I think we have a better chance than many guys assume at some of these big fish given the $$$ we will throw out.

How do Shelvin, Ika, and Guillory fit in a 4-3?
Roy and Taylor are perfect 3-4 DE
Where do Webb and BJ and Brooks fit in a 4-3?

But none of this really matters because 3-4/4-3 terminology is outdated. Most teams are multiple and you have to run nickel and dime most of the time anyway

The rumor goes that Les wanted aranda that go round but Aleva wouldn’t allocate the money/remove poor language in the contract to force a bad hire on Les so we scraped the barrel with Steele in 2014. Les survives the coup gets some leverage back Steele leaves which was “mutual” per the rumor and Les gets his hire Aranda and then gets fired.

Hey personally I thought he was solid and our performance against mahomes and Texas tech was incredible and I was pumped about his second year but there was massive melts about his hire and this board wanted to run him out of town.

Just saying I think it’s funny that he’s now on the boards short list

Yea Roy can easily be a 4-3 DE. Plus you got 2 of Ika/Shelvin/Guillory on the field.
