He’s trying to transition to playing MLB after playing OLB most of his career.

These don't really mean anything for the majority of positions.
For example, Neil Ferrel is not going to get more snaps than Roy, and Brian Thomas is not going to only come in to relieve Boutte.
However Major Burns over Todd Harris at safety is significant news.

It’s the depth chart for the UCLA game, not the whole season..
