That’s the question. Fans on the forums think they will only offer slot and he better take it or leave it.

I have a feeling Brice is going to stick to 3.5 minimum although the leaked number is 4. That being said, if he takes 3.2 I wouldn’t be surprised.

I heard his “number” was 4.5.

I think the Brewers can probably get to 3.5 unless Ashby and Gray get a lot more than slot.

4.5 is impossible without the Brewers being heavily penalized. Meaning it would be much more than 4.5. They'd rather a second first round pick next year than pay almost double value on one player.

I admit to being a complete novice at all of this but how does their recent trades come in to play in all of this? I mean what kind of talent do they already have in their system and what kind of trades have they recently made?

This may be a dumb question, but does that cap of $6,611,900 only apply to players in the top ten rounds? Or do they have to use money from that pot to pay players in rounds 11+? If that is their total cap for all players in this years draft, what other players can we expect to cut into that budget from rounds 11+?

The pool is the total of their top 10 round pick values added up but any amount paid to someone round 11 or later over $125k is counted towards the pool. So you can't sign your 38th rounder for 1.5 mill anymore unless you have a high first round pick and sign that guy way under his slot value.

Any top 10 round guy doesn't sign, their pick value is lost. That's why when the Astros wouldn't sign Aiken when his elbow was hurt that Mac guy signing with lsu lost his deal because he was being paid out of savings from aiken's slot.

Here is my guess based off what I have seen others post…

1. Brice Turang (Slot Value of $3,013,600) - ?????
2. Joe Gray (Slot Value of $1,113,500) – Guess he will sign for around $1,200,000
3. Micah Bello (Slot Value of $824,900) – Guess he will sign for around $750,000
4. Aaron Ashby (Slot Value of $438,300) – Guess he will sign for around $438,300
5. Justin Jarvis (Slot Value of $327,100) – Guess he will sign for around $250,000
6. Drew Rasmussen (Slot Value of $251,700) – Guess he will sign for around $200,000
7. David Fry (Slot Value of $197,000) – Guess he will sign for around $120,000
8. Luis Gonzales (Slot Value of $161,400) – Guess he will sign for around $150,000
9. Albert Cipion (Slot Value of $146,200) – Guess he will sign for around $120,000
10. JT Hintzen (Slot Value of $138,200) – Guess he will sign for around $100,000

If picks 2 through 10 sign for around my guesstimates that would leave the brewers with about $3.2M-$3.4M to get Brice. This is assuming picks 11+ don’t go above that $125K mark. If Brice Turang sticks to his $4M-$4.5M I don’t see how the Brewers can sign him.

Am I right? I know money talks and when he sees an actual check of $3.4M that may change things.

Those seniors might sign for a lot less, let’s just hope Gray wants no less than 1.5. That would help a whole lot

That's what I was thinking, i'm not overly familiar with the amounts seniors in the top 10 rounds sign for.

More likely way less. He's from Puerto Rico.

Rasmussen and Fry are the only seniors correct? I'm assuming they would sign for no less than $125K correct?

Seniors have zero leverage in these negotiations.

Rasmussen would be lucky to get $150k being a senior

If this is the case, that would get the brewers closer to the $3.5M-3.6M range. Still assuming no one in the 11+ rounds go for more than $125K.

The top ten round senior signs I've seen so far this year (not for the Brewers) have been 10K and 5K.

Ell is right. I’ve seen some seniors signing for 25k.

We need Ashby and Gray to stick it to them. If Cabell takes more than slot that would help us as well.

It was my understanding that he's going JUCO. Has that changed?
