Would you say Chinea holds the edge in power of the three or is Moore even with him there? We've been spoiled with catchers the past 5-6 years with Gibbs and Ross, can you compare Moore with another catcher we've had? Liuzza?
Love he write ups, bestiary to follow the team here in Chicago. Thanks!!
Moore is something LSU hasn't seen in a while. He has a catchers body yet he's more suited in a corner infield spot whether it ends up at 3B or 1B. In college a C/1B transition is not the biggest of deals.
Chinea certainly does have power; he always has. It's always remarkable the power surges sophomores have after a year in the system.

Adam, based off the fall and Mainieri's own words, I agree that Moore will begin the season at C.
But so far this "spring" (I understand it's a limited sampling), Scivicque looks like he belongs there while Moore might be our best defensive first baseman which can be just as critical. Thoughts?

It's Feb 2nd. Let's talk about Tyler Moore being the starting 1st baseman.

I could see Scivicque taking over the catching duty IF Mainieri makes it an emphasis like he has in years past to shore up the defense.
In reality we could have 3-4 combinations at C, 1B, and 2B with Scivicque, Moore, Chinea, and Hale depending on the circumstances.

Last spring in the months leading up to the summer both Mainieri and Sanchez sought a backup plan in the likely hood that Christian Ibarra would bolt for the draft. Needless to say they needed a viable third baseman who could step in immediately in order to give the deep in-fielding class time to mature. Insert Hale, Ibarra's replacement who should find himself playing major innings on the right side of the infield.
I think you meant Jacoby Jones
