In my opinion Nola has more room to fill out with his frame. His arm and defense at the moment has Hanover beat (not by much). Both Nola and Hanover are going to be ALL-SEC players.

Adam4848, what do you see Nola's younger brother Aaron playing for us next year if he decides to skip the draft? I saw somewhere a while back that he dominated pitching at some showcase in Kansas City with some of the best high school players in the nation. I believe he plays SS as well? He sounds like a good one.

Nola has the frame to fill out, but he probably shouldn't. He is going to get drafted mainly on his defensive prowess, and any big weight/bulk game could affect his defense. He could always bulk up and move to 3rd or 2B, but his offense will never match up for those positions.

I think Aaron will end up playing for LSU. His older brother is succeeding at a high level, the family is very pro LSU, and he has a chance to play immediately. As always however we will have to wait and see what happens in June...

It was during the roid era, but Armando Rios never hit more than 5 homers per season while at LSU...then he started becoming a power hitter in SF.

Nola looks like he could still naturally add on a few (and has) and his hitting got much better over the course of one year. I wouldn't be surprised if he knocked ten out in 2011, but 4-7 would be my guess.

pretty sure Rios was one of the players named in the mitchell report

and he hit 9 and 7 HRs his last 2 years at LSU

ETA: I say Nola hits 5 tops.

How do things look for their future? Do they plan on making the pitcher out of UNC (cannot recall name) into an MLB starter soon?

Restructuring the farm system...it takes time

Alex White RHP, he's impressive. He pitched in AA last summer but the last thing they want to do is rush him. He may get a September call-up, if any starters go down with an injury etc...he'll be injected into the lineup.

This could still be the case, I'm going off of what the projections looked like heading into spring practice, you're right any position could change in the next two weeks.

HEIGHT:6'3
WEIGHT:192
BATS: R THROWS: R

Third Base

JaCoby Jones (Fr.)*
Kirk Cunningham (Jr.)
Grant Dozar (Jr.)

All-District, All-State, All-American, JaCoby was once thought of a sure thing to enter into the Major league baseball draft. Considered a five tool player, Jones is one of the best athletes on the team only behind Mahtook. When LSU signed Cecchini and Jones, Mainieri didn't expect either to make it onto campus. Cecchini was the more polished player coming out of high school while Jones was the player with the more upside. At 6'3 Jones is a tall infielder and still growing. Depending on how big he gets will most likely determine what position he plays in the future. Jones is a kid every LSU fan wants to see right out the gate, he's got a flashy glove, the speed of a gazelle, and a great arm. If there is one aspect of JaCoby's game that he must improve on it's his hitting as he gets accustomed to college pitching day in and day out. How well he adjust to this will ammount to his playing time early on. One thing is for certain, when Jones fills out and gets bigger and stronger...watch out!

Grade: B-

Grading Scale 1-Poor 2-" 3-Average 4-" 5-As good as it gets
