eades could be a superstar, i remember hearing that scott boras had his people all over him before his injury
if he is 100%, he could be an unbelievable steal

I have a feeling he'll be in that starting rotation before the year is over and his injury heals

i think so too. i like alsup a lot, but i wonder how much of last season was a fluke or has he really developed...we'll see

Yeah, I think all of the 3 starting have some questions and odds are one of them won't start out very well, and I think he may replace them later on when he builds stamina

so what are the chances Eades is in the rotation by the post-season?

I might have to go to one of the early midweek games to watch this kid pitch

I really liked what I saw out of him this past Sunday. Had some real good movement on his pitches.

The next Louis Coleman. Mediocre first 2 1/2 years, came on strong halfway thru his junior year. Will be a stud as a senior. Mark it.

woah there broseph, thats pretty hard to live up to.....Coleman changed almost everything about the way he pitched, thats why the success started.

Any chance Bradshaw starts mid week games or is he strictly bullpen now?
Posted on 2/8/11 at 1:32 pm to MrPackSix
he's got a chance I'm sure, he prob will start 1 or 2 just because of the way Mainieri experiments during midweek games and if the other guys (eades and mccune) pitch in relief on the weekends.

From what I'm getting Bradshaw's going to be the do it all reliever out of the pen. Not trying to compare him to Bradford, but he'll relieve/setup/spot start/etc... Basically game by game is his outlook.
Edit: Josh has it right

If by SEC play Eades has made his way into the starting roto I would be ecstatic. We may need someone like Alsup to be our fireman out of the pen depending on how Bradshaw performs.
Gausmann I think will have a very up and down year. He has a plus plus arm, but the biggest knock on him was his command. I have read that he has really sharpened his offspeed stuff since arriving at LSU, but I think his command issues will persist with that big arm. Thinking along the lines that one night he goes 7IP 10K 2BB and 3 H and the next its 2 1/3 4K 6BB and 2H.
Jones is a big wild card in my opinion. If I remember correctly he was a late addition to the class, but BA said he had a strong arm and a real nice curveball. His numbers at Madison JC in Wisconsin were above average. 3.01 ERA over 74IP with 77K but it will be interesting to see how that translates in the SEC.
Realism aside, there are a lot of arms on this team that will garner scout's interest. I think this season hinges on how quickly our young arms adjust to college ball, because our bats, speed and defense should be great.

This could be the first year Mainieri has been here where he actually has a quality pitching staff that includes depth. Something we didn't have in 2009. Which is kind of surprising considering pitching was his niche before coming to LSU. I'm excited to see that mixed with our already good hitters.

Mainieri has said he wants a solid 4-man rotation. I think Gausman, Eades, Jones, and Alsup will be that four, barring injury, with Eades and Jones battling for weekend duty.
I didn't realize Eades was DH'ing...I know he did so in high school after his labrum tore, but we'll see.
I'll be out at practice today snapping photos and hopefully talking to the team. Actually heading there now. I'll update the blog and link it later.

Yes, I was surprised to see him at DH Saturday. But the fact that he is one of the few on the team that can hit from the left side of the plate is gonna be a big plus for him this season.

Out here now, interesting moves at second and third base.
