As to Barksdale,I give him a pass on the "not on the line of scrimmage" call. I mean it was his fault, but I am sure that is one of those once in a lifetime penalties.

Easy there killer. Don't get your panties in a wad. I mentioned one penalty. I never said that the other two were not boneheaded plays. In fact, even the penalty for being in the backfield was boneheaded, but I would not say that is going to be a repeating problem. Would you?

This thread is about why the offense has not been as effective as it should be. The offensive line is still a big part of the problem. Penalties kill drives just as fast as incomplete passes.

Really? I hope you research your law work better than that. See play by play, 7:03 of 3rdQ, Jefferson sacked. Do I need to do anything else for you?
This was after watching 4 other college games and LSU kick off at 9:15PM, plus ~ 6-beers. Next time I will be more specific as to the exact second, my recollection was just a tad fuzzy.

With all the Ranting about the struggles at quarterback, it seems to me that there is still a big gap between the protection the QB is getting and what he should be getting. I know he doesn't pull the trigger fast enough at times, and seems to be more than a little indecisive, but he never seems to be able to throw without being under significant pressure. Yes, the offensive line is improved over last year, but that isn't a very high standard. Perhaps Miles' reluctance to shift quarterbacks is attributable in part to his, and his staff's, belief that the problem lies less with the QB than with the blocking.
I think the WV game was the first time we've had consistent problems protecting. We have been better.

B.s the o-line is much improved. If they werent do you honestly think we wouls be ranked as high as we are in rushing yards? Not taking anything away from ridley, but with the same line we had last two seasons, nvm dont want to think about it

You can't tell me that it's the line's fault this guy hasn't thrown for over 100 FREAKIN yards in the last three games. There are teams out there with much worse lines who have quarterbacks who are throwing over 200 a game.

This was the play where JJ stared down at TT who was wide the frick open for an easy 80 yard TD. No safety over the top nothing the guy was flat out open by 10 yards. JJ stared at him long enough for the South EZ to see to all be yelling throw it to Tolliver.. Then he took a sack

What is your point? The guy said the wrong quarter.. The fact is that jefferson had more than enough time to throw the ball. Instead he just stared at a wide open receiver. That play was not the offensive lines fault.. Im not sure why JJ didnt throw the ball. Made no sense. He had a wide open WR and he was actually looking right at him the whole time. Not sure if it was nerves or what but we went from an easy TD to a sack in one play. Since I doubt anyone would have caught TT with the lead he had on the CB and the fact that the safety came up.

we are only decent at run blocking because we run the option. that sets up our running game.
sorry, couldn't resist. hell, for all i know, it's true.

I just want to know how anyone things we are not providing adequate pass blocking for JJ.
Take away that sack that was entirely JJ's fault and LSU is tied for 24th in the nation in sacks given up. They have only given up 5. I would have to look at the other 5 to figure out if it was the line that gave up the sack or JJ's inability to throw but the sack in the WVU game was entirely JJ's fault.

Was he talking about the sack that I just listed?

Pretty sure there was only one sack..
He said :
Im not sure if it was exactly 6 seconds on the play he was sacked but it certainly seemed that way. I had the same view that JJ did and for the life of me I have no idea why he didnt throw the ball. Everyone around me had enough time to get a few Throw it to Tolliver yells out because we could all see how open he was. His vision wasnt blocked but he just locked up. Then he got sacked.
Basically it was the type of sack commentators normally refer to as a "coverage" sack due to the amount of time the QB had. However JJ had a wide open guy and it was apparently his #1 option since he never looked away from him. he just didnt throw the ball.

The sack he took wasn't his fault. He was trying to go deep to Toliver and made a play action fake, but safety Robert Sands had already dropped into a deep zone on that side. After Jefferson turned his head he saw Toliver doubled. Meanwhile, center P.J. Lonergan was blocking 301-pound noseguard Chris Nelid but lost contact with him and Nelid circled behind Josh Williford and Alex Hurst, who were blocking end Jorge Wright, for the sack.
