7. Hope you guys can look past the disappointment of the matchup to have some good discussion these next few weeks. Have really enjoyed the LSU fans we've run into the past several years. Should be a great time in Tampa.

By thinking we're disappointed with the matchup you're making a mistake, I'd say we're pretty excited right now amidst a season that has been unexciting at times, I hope your team isn't taking the same attitude as you or you guys might get blown out of the stadium

Nice write up. My Mom was a Hawkeye so I have always followed Iowa from afar. Looking forward to it even though your coach is possibly the most overrated overpaid coach in the history of college football.

I'm really excited about the matchup and not sure why so many LSU fans are writing off Iowa as a team who won't compete with us. Frankly, it's just the name Iowa. To the ignorant LSU fan (which makes up a good chunk of the vocal ones on this site), Iowa is just a boring place with boring football and pale ugly women. I used to live in Iowa and know that's not the case. I'm also aware of what happened last time we wrote you off, and I'm not blind to the fact that LSU has been wildly inconsistent this year, meaning any decent team has a shot to beat us (or get demolished).

Iowa's style of play poses some matchup problems. Our D this year is soft up the middle and not what we've been accustomed to. As shown by the Alabama and Arkansas games, offenses can pound the rock and wear us down. There's no telling what Jennings will bring as a QB, but he's athletic, supported by two elite WRs, and has an arsenal of RBs to hand the ball off to. It should be a good game. I won't be shocked to see it go down to the wire again.

I like our chances in this game, even with both teams playing their best.

Not a chance. That means 2 1k+ yard receivers and a 1k yard rusher will be "playing their best". Too many weapons to stop.

And Jennings showed me everything I needed to see to have faith in his ability to lead the Tigers

Obviously you don't follow LSU closely to be making this type of bold prediction.

I like the matchup in the trenches (the advantage we will have). Most of the best skill players in FB can't make up for a lack of blocking. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Well, the point is that if you don't play well, you just aren't that good in the first place and don't deserve to win. The better team will win the game.

That's where y'all do have an advantage- our D line has underperformed all year & linebackers have been atrocious. That's the matchup that most worries me, your O line against our run D.

I know what you're saying- it's just that miles coached teams have inherently had a Jekyll & Hyde complex- you never know which team will show up.

Iowa could very easily win this game if we show up sleepwalking because 'it's Iowa' like we did at Ole Piss. Got a feeling we won't though. Not with the new kid at QB. They know they've got something to prove and might just be vulnerable.

We shall see.

Good Luck though!

It all depends on how motivated the players are. Iowa will be excited bc this is their best team in awhile and they'll want to add a win over a big name sec school to their wall. LSU, especially recently has shown a tendency to not be at their best if their out of the sec/nc race. And the outback bowl pretty damn far from the NC.

Also the only team to beat LSU "convincingly" since 2008 has been Bama, twice. I highly doubt an Iowa team that lost to northern Illinois will be the second team to do it
