They finished second in the secw in conference games in points scored, against the toughest sec schedule of any sec team. They finished ahead of a&m. If lsu was bad, a&m was worse, as was om and Auburn offensively. I compared to the sec West only, because how many east teams played against the defense of Bama, state, Auburn, FL, ga, and a&m? I know the answer, but spin away.

Yet we were not a top 10 defense this year and we rank in the top 50 in time of possession

For the record we were:
21st in total defense
41st in time of possession

Les was better than 0. Undebatable fact. He also should have been fired.

Those are not mutually exclusive statements.

That should shut them up for about five seconds. They'll shite all over this too.

I approve of this post. we are close to being a very good offense. my biggest concern this year was our OL and it is for next year too. getting Ingram back would be huge but we need much improvement in both run blocking and pass blocking.

FIFY

A&M finished ahead of us in points scored objectively.

Keep fricking putting the defense on the field time and time again with zero offense and that is what you get. Look at how many 3 and outs and starting field position when the offense did score. Look at field goals as an example of a poor scoring offense. Geez.
fricking people with narratives...

Anyone who understands football, whether fan, player or coach, can watch LSU football and see that the offense consistently struggles to have any continuity vs good defenses. Here and there the offense has a good game, but overall it’s not right.

I see the downvotes rolling in, do most people feel our defense was elite?

Not trolling or BSing, just curious what others saw.

What about red zone scoring the fricking number of field goals and starting field position the defense gave. It isn’t one metric fricktard.

This alter is Tiger Ree. 99% certain of it. He is trying to hide the major patterns of a Tiger Ree thread, but as this one continues they are slowly creeping out.

Ree for sure. This thread is also trending the way every thread does that has two of the three village idiots posting in it.

The defense and special teams carried this team. If you don't see that, your opinion is worthless.

100% agree. Again, the lsu offense scored a go ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter of each road loss. The defense couldn't hold the lead.

People with an agenda bash E. They didn't want O, didn't want E. LSU exceeded expectations this year, and yet here they are bashing. If E could take that offense and finish second in the west in conference play, I'd think the chances of considerable improvement next year are realistic. I'm hoping the OL will improve significantly, and I believe it will. Even without it, you will have an experienced QB, those two talented freshmen at wr will be sophomores, returning TE pass catching threat, and elite rbs due in. The last thing this O needs is less continuity.

So they were not even top 20 in defense. To me that's just not great, I guess I am spoiled by the previous defenses.

Like I said I think both sides need to improve.

Until LSU finds an offense line, Paton Manning would look like shite! Barrow has to run for his life on every pass play! Also what happened to our GREAT DEFENSE ?

1. You’re not wrong.

2. Were not exactly getting compared to a who’s who of offensive teams. Miss state was one dementianal and could barely pass the ball most of the season. Arkansas and Ole Miss are dumbster fires. Auburn’s OC just got a nice promotion to fricking OC at Kansas and they’re literally just in a holding pattern to Fire Gus. Sure other teams sucked. So did we. A&M isn’t good either. New system. True Sophmore QB. We’re better than other bad teams.

3. Alabama counts. So

4. 28 points a game still isn’t good.

5. If we didn’t return production it was because brosette never got the ball even when Williams and Guice both were injured. Sullivan and Dillon were the 3/4 WR last year. Moreau was second on the team in catches and tied for TDs.

6. I dont See a new Ol coach as a reason we should be bad. We’ve run zone plays for years. If you’re a good coach the players you coach should improve with your coaching.

7. If you’re an OC and you can’t implement to the point where is it competent your system quickly, than it isn't right for college. Look at Houston. Lowest their Leading Rusher, 2 top Recivers and their QB played WR last year.

They went from 65th in scoring to 4th with a new OC and OL coach.

I agree 1988, had lsu scored more TDS in the red zone, they would have separated from everyone else in the west but Bama. As it is, they barely outperformed everyone else but Bama. As for the defense, correct, no one else plays d but lsu.

Did you remove Alabama from everyone else's schedule?

I'm not very keen on your opinion either chief, but I don't mind hearing someone else's opinion that differs from mine and having a rational discussion. I'm not the irrational blowhard type that thinks I am always right.

Like I said I think both sides of the ball beed to improve.
IMO top 10 defenses carry teams
Top 25 defenses contribute.
