He is still young and doesn't have a lot of coaching experience so might need a little time to get seasoned
He probably has a lot to learn about college recruiting as well.

That RPO bubble screen to Marshall for 6 was a thing of beauty. I thought it was Brees to MT for a second there. Can’t wait to see more wrinkles like that

I hate to be that guy, but that wasn’t an RPO or bubble screen, that was just a simple Tunnel Screen

Maybe. One advantage is that he may be able to better relate to recruits b/c he is so young.

an apprenticeship type role for a couple seasons.
isn't it SE's last year on contract? Brady will have offers coming in after this year if this offense continues. I think Brady is OC next year.

Brady is most likely future OC and will take on an apprenticeship type role for a couple seasons.

Nope. You don't slowplay talents like Brady. He's going to be the OC next season.

possibly, but I could see it being a little longer than that. Brady is still pretty green and might not be ready for the OC position just yet. I could see it going another season or two after this year before Ensminger retires and they feel comfortable with going all in with Brady as OC.

What ever they are doing they need to keep doing and let this offense grow and Bradys role grow along with it. When the time is right Ensminger will retire and Brady will take over, but not until Brady has a full and well rounded grasp of what it takes to be a major college OC. He will get there but would be better not to rush him into it before he is ready. Might be next season but good chance it is not.

its not "slow playing him" as you call it, but more of grooming him as to the ins and outs of coaching as an OC at a major college program. He is talented and knows the x's and o's and he will develop the coaching and recruiting skills of being the OC. When he is ready Orgeron, will know it, Ensminger will know it, and most importantly, Brady will know it. It could possibly be by next season or it could be longer. NO one here really knows.

Orgeron better be careful, if he doesn’t promote Brady to OC next year, other college teams will contact the young coach about their OC job. I am sure Brady’s agent will be willing to listen to what ever offers are on the table.

Don't think it was an RPO. That was a tunnel screen call.

If we win it all this year, someone is going to poach Brady

He also took advice from Sullivan about the passing game last year.

Coach E is very under appreciated. He has always put the Tigers before himself. He truly loves LSU and has proven he will do whatever it takes to be successful

Thank God we finally have open minded coaches that are willing to make changes when necessary. Number 6 in the country last year was only the beginning. We moving on up, we comin'.

Yeah. I mean, if this offense continues like this, we need to keep Brady at all cost. And I know people will be going after him for OC if we continue like this. If we have to make him OC and give him more money, so be it.

Exactly.

If this offense is Brady's doing, he has the leverage. No doubt other schools will come calling and we'd better be ready to move him to OC, regardless of if they think he's ready because some other school desperate for an OC will be ready to make him one.

Dude, teams are chomping at the bit to bring in young offensive geniuses. If he changes our offense so dramatically so fast, I can guarantee you teams will be all over him. No doubt in my mind.

From the Advocate in January

Last summer, Ed Orgeron and the LSU coaching staff gathered inside the Tigers football facilities for a presentation. It was to learn about the New Orleans Saints offense from their offensive coordinator, Pete Carmichael, who had coached with Orgeron when they were both Saints assistants in 2008.

Carmichael brought along a young and fervent offensive assistant, who at one point took over the presentation and captivated the LSU coaching staff with his command of schemes and strategies.

Meet Joe Brady, the newest member of the LSU coaching staff.
