Assuming that the dominos hadn’t fallen to get a 10-2 LSU into the playoffs, it looks like the bowl situation improved by losing. LSU went from potentially playing the G5 team in the Peach to potentially Michigan in the Fiesta? The loss allowed Florida to step in front of LSU with the head-to-head, but keep LSU in the top 12.

Weird...

So if UF vs. UCF happens... root for an embarrassment of the beloved Gators or root to protect the reputation of the SEC?

It’s Funny how this season Florida beat us so they get in a better bowl but in 2012 we beat Texas AM but they went to better bowl because they defeated bama

Yeah, but this looks like it will work out better.

The only downside for me is that I live in Atlanta. I could go to the Peach...

Maybe. If we would have won and Bama stomps Georgia they maybe would have fallen behind us and we could have gotten Sugar.

I do agree with you 100% though- I would much rather play a P5 opponent in a NY6 then freaking UCF.

After beating A&M four separate times, we should have actually gone up.

I don't care about the reputation of the SEC but I'm tired of everyone acting like UCF is a thing and would love to see them get demolished.

No we were looking at sugar bowl with a win over A&M. We fell but not far. The committee seems to be looking at it similar to a tie, which is fair since we got hosed.

I found this on a CBS site. Don't know if it's accurate:

quote:

UCF is still in the Fiesta Bowl because the Peach has had the Group of Five team twice already, including last season. No. 7 Michigan lands the final spot in the Peach Bowl.

In this situation we probably would be playing Texas with Oklahoma going to the playoff. With UT on the schedule early next year I don't know how excited I'd be about that matchup.

I agree with the OP that we might find ourselves in a better place matchup-wise after losing.
