Well I think we could agree that New Mexico would wipe the field with Southern. And Nussmeier's play improved against a substantially better opponent, so I think there is some encouraging sign there. I still think we are going to need him at some point when Daniels' slender body gets smashed. We need Nuss to continue to improve.

I'm not saying he should start by any means, but saying Nuss wasn't good tonight is disingenuous, at best. Totally different from his last outing. He was accurate and threw darts.

Nuss was improved and most importantly, he played under control and within the offense. That’s a nice step forward for him if he can do that consistently from now on. It’s the first time he’s done that since the Ole Miss game last year, so it’s definitely a positive.

That play was right in front of me and if Nabers lays out he catches it. Maybe it wasn’t a perfect dime but it was not a terrible pass at all.

I am. The offense moved effortlessly when Nuss came into the game. He's a much better QB than Daniels.

Tonight he had the chance to play with the starters and it showed how relaxed and calm he was compared to the Southern game.

Daniels but up great stats against a very bad Southern team and I personally believe Nuss came in pressing too much going for big plays. He was too amped up and he tried to do too much. Tonight was a better barometer since he was playing with mostly starters. We got the chance to see what he could do tonight and he passed with flying colors.

The only bad thing about that is the QB controversy that will now be more heated than ever.

I think we see the Brian Kelly staple of playing two QB’s every game. Especially if Daniels struggles to put points on the board. Nuss will come in and play if he can get points.

I also see a scenario where Kelly game plans to rotate every few series in tight games if both are playing well.

Will be hard to keep Nuss off the field but Daniels is better than most think and moves the chains well. He has the edge in experience, he just lacks the big play ability with his arm. But his legs are huge weapons on 3rd downs.

Gonna be interesting how this season plays out. I just don’t want to lose Nuss or Howard to the portal. It’s a tricky situation.

Exactly. Nuss is the guy.

Time to rip off the band-aid and move into the next chapter of LSU football.

With the fans, I should’ve clarified. But I do think Kelly plans to roll with both like he did at Notre Dame. That’s if Nuss can play like he did tonight.

There’s no QB controversy. Daniels is the starter.

So,
You gather that Nuss is the guy from garbage time work against the mighty powerhouse New Mexico?
Before you come at me with the "He actually had a touchdown pass" argument, look at the type of pass it was.
It was a WR screen caught at the line of scrimmage and BTJ did all the work making guys miss.
That was literally half of Nuss' stat line tonight.
Jayden literally had a great night throwing, but the Nuss fanboys have blinders on and only see the great, almighty, Nuss as a great quarterback.
I'm a true LSU fan and I'll support whoever's under center, but the way some of ya'll are acting about JD is utterly disappointing.
Oh also, before you come at me with the "JD had 0 TDS,
A: he had one called back
B: they ran a lot more inside the 15-10 yard range and had success.
Now don't get me wrong, I was really happy to see Nuss perform better than his last attempt, but the nuss obsession on this board is strange

He won't be after Tennessee. We will get blown out vs the top SEC teams with JD as the starter. That's when Nuss will really get to prove himself.

We beat a good SEC team with Daniels last week. He’s not perfect, but he’s not the liability you think he is.

We all know without a doubt you will be cheering for this result to happen. You are absolutely one of the I would rather be right “fans.”

My crappy country dish satellite quit at half time. Did he look like he did during the spring game?
