Unfortunately, sometimes in SEC caliber football, things don’t go perfectly and the QB HAS to be able to make a play on his own. THATS what Nussmeier is not capable of and that’s what a top level team needs. Yes, he’s great when everyone gets open and everyone blocks, but unfortunately that’s not realistic.

I hate it for Nuss because he showed so much promise but if I'm being honest, I'd like for us to go get a stud QB out of the portal this offseason. Nuss regressed the entire year and would probably need a miracle offseason in order to come back next year and kill it.

Yikes. Do you think NFL QBs just grow on trees? You wont find a better Qb in the portal. He will make a big leap next year, and even more if we can put some talent around him.

I just have a hard time seeing what yall see in Nuss. Joe and JD had clear improvements as the year went on (im talking that first year). It's gotten so much worse. He has deep flaws. He makes bone head plays when pressured for example. Like really really bad decision making under pressure. Like how perfect does it need to be for you to do the right thing??? Idk. Maybe he makes a leap and hope he does...

He needs to spend much more time in that simulator that shows pass patterns against different defenses. He will learn better how to identify defenses and when and where certain patterns come open.
Of course, LSU receivers need to participate also and be disciplined in their patterns.
This is my understanding of how JD improved so much in prep for his final season. I hope Nuss has as much discipline and success with the simulation. LSU is one of few schools that actually have that simulation.

You just don’t know ball, and that’s ok. But please refrain from giving any opinion when you’re ignorant to a particular subject. Thanks

You’re right, he didn’t regress, the competition got better. He overthrew open deep balls against the bad teams, it certainly hasn’t changed when facing better teams

just wish he would run more especially when he has room to pick up first downs and move the chains, that would be huge and the bad part is he is actually pretty quick and very capable of doing it.

Happy to see the number of upvotes this received, since it’s spot on. Nuss does a really solid job of navigating the pocket and scrambling to buy time. He also is really accurate throwing on the run. He just is so laser focused on always looking to throw, which leads to the occasional forced throw. If he would just accept the free 5-10 yards that is usually there, arguably his biggest problem would be lessened significantly.
