I think he would tell you he was fortunate to not have at least 1 pick 6 last week. We are all happy about that.

What are his YPA and Rating?
If we want to paint the total picture.

If he could just trust himself a little more and get rid of the ball a little earlier he’d be a machine
IMO, it's actually the opposite, he needs to trust his protection and go through his protections, needs to stop throwing immediately off his back foot when the protection is actually holding up, this is what will make him elite
he gets rid of it plenty quick enough, but too often to a receiver at 3yd depth when they need 5 for a first down
signed
I think he's playing great overall

Theres a small group of guys on here that have a narrative.
Sounds like something a person who was anti JD5 and on the Nuss Buss would say

when someone says he is one of the best in the biz, you have to talk him down from that.
Reason: he's not one of the best in the biz
Exactly. He's fine, but if people start overrating him and selectively picking counting stats, it's not a good look.
He's been fine/solid. Lots of room for improvement. Probably not good enough to leave, which makes me wonder if we overhaul the offense for a non-mobile QB next year.

How do you down vote a stat line? Its simply a piece of sports information for comparison purposes.
Bad selection.
Why didn't you pick better stats like YPA and rating?

What does this mean?

Has more of a pro skillset than most college QB’s . Smart mobile enough and incredible arm talent. Kind of old school.

quote:The D is better and will get better. Keep Weeks at MLB and use HP strictly as a Rusher. Don't make him do anything other than rushing the QB
The OL and esp the D has to get better though
The OL is finally having to block for a more traditional Offense and they're having trouble run blocking for an actual running back.
Brad "Ed Orgeron hired Me" Davis hasn't prepared them very well for this more traditional Offense. GOAT OL Coach Davis (According to the Rantknockers) also hasn't recruited a legitimate Center since Shrimpy hired him 4 years ago to take over for Cregg..(They're using the Les Miles "Offensive Guards playing Tackle" OL philosophy with G's and T's trying to play Center) What with BK's great OL's at ND, I'm surprised he tolerating all this OL dysfunctional BS. Nothing he can do about it until the season is over either.

Our run scheme is the same
We just don't run many zone-reads anymore, for obvious reasons.
Our run scheme was shite in 2022 and 2023, too. JD just made it work b/c he's a historic talent.

So irrelevant
Why is it irrelevant?
He had a weird quirk where hit throws it off of his back foot with a little pressure. Doesn’t happen all the time, but happens enough through 3 weeks that it’s noticeable. Maybe 2-3 times per game he just kind of throws it up and toward the sidelines.

Why is it relevant? His stats are great. Mahomes does it all of the time from numerous arm angles. You're 30 years behind the times.

Anyone else get that sense that we’re still not trusting his deep ball? I thought one his main pros was a canon for an arm.

Mahomes throws on the run often, but rarely off his back foot, and he's Patrick Mahomes.

The SEC is going to eat him alive if he keeps that up. It also affects his accuracy

The link is a film breakdown of Nuss' best throws. He was 3/3 on deep throws. Watch the breakdown of the throw to Anderson. He's getting hit as he throws and Anderson isn't open until the last couple steps and the ball drops into his hands. If Anderson doesn't stumble it's a 60 yd TD pass.

And only having 4 starts ever with a record of 3-1. Haters keep trying to blame him or exaggerating every mistake or harping on what he isn't doing (and doesn't need to). Yet in reality he's doing amazing and will only get better. If he comes back next year will definitely be a Heisman favorite.
