And I thought CBK could coach

Daniels just had the 2nd most yards in the history of lsu in a season and people are still shitting on him. Can someone make it make sense to me?

Walker is really small, and he needs a year or two more to catch up.
Yeah, and he think that is probably why some (not all) of the recruiting services dropped him in their rankings. Size wise, he doesn’t look at that much different than he did his Jr. year of high school.

Look JD is a good college QB but he has some work to do in the passing game. If you watched any of the 2 playoff games this year you would see that. JD wouldn’t start for either of those 4 teams right now. He just isn’t consistent enough passing. A lot of people don’t think he will make the jump to being a consistent passing threat after 4 years of starting. Maybe he improves, maybe he doesn’t.

Keeping JD5 is going to set back LSU QB play for years to come. But BK knows best.
It’s hilarious how much you idiots have to reach to find shite to try and throw at Kelly now.

It's one of the most difficult things in the world to attempt to rationalize thoughts with backward humans

This makes the most sense. And this is possible because Nuss sat out the bowl game last year. Was always the right decision by he and his family.

Nothing guaranteed. Playing behind JD would be unacceptable to me personally.
Teams will adjust, they always do. He'll be forced to be a passer next year.

Good thing is nuss’s dad knows a lot about developing QBs and that it doesn’t happen overnight. Versus some dads who think natural talent shines day one or that their kid should get the most money immediately. Hoping some good advice keeps his talented son here.
How is Max Johnson working out at Texas Arse to Mouth?

Nuss will definitely get PT next year. I'm sure that if the offense stalls out with JD, they feel good about putting Nuss in there to Kickstart the offense for a drive or two. You don't want to start a controversy, but you also don't want to be hard-headed and lose a game just because JD is the starter. We will need both QBs at some point to win next year.

I don’t know why this is the thought. I agree that Nuss could leave, and based current transfer stuff, I’m firmly in the I’ll believe Nuss stays if JD is named starter when I see it. Hope it stays.
As to Walker, leaving just because Nuss stays wouldn’t make much sense. Especially if JD is starting. Just because Nuss stays it’s not a foregone conclusion he will be starter when JD is out. Even if Nuss were to get significant PT next year, I can almost guarantee it will be a full blown QB battle with each getting a full look. Then, whichever loses that battle will likely be gone.

If Nussmier stays Walker should probably move on if he is as good as most say.

Also, what’s the deal with this kind of thinking as to JD’s passing ability, and that his game is so schemable.
Obviously, he has some deficiencies in his game, but the kid was largely very efficient, he took care of the football (outside of a few games), and ultimately turned in one of the better QB PASSING seasons in LSU history.
It’s also not a good analysis when people try to separate his arm from his legs. For one because his running ability is elite and it’ll be difficult for anyone to completely bottle him up. Secondly, the fact is that he is a capable passer that can make most of the throws. If he could ever get the confidence to work the middle of the field then he’ll be a legit Heisman contender IMO. Defenses are going to have honor his passing abilities and I’d bet a lot of money that most SEC coaches would agree.
I feel like more than ever people on here hold these kids to some unattainable standard of greatness, and also value other coaches ability to perfectly scheme with 18-22 yo kids. Neither of those is reality.

JD looked like dog shite vs ARK and Nuss still didn't get playing time. Coach knew LSU had an easy win over Purdue in a nearly meaningless game which was why Nuss got to play early.
If Nuss sticks around, he'll only get playing time vs teams that LSU will completely outmatch. Otherwise, it'll take 15+ pts with 5 minutes to go for him to get a series.

Meh...he just isn't accurate and it's plain yo see.
I predict you'll get more of the same...like any inconsistencies in life.
He'll have great Heisman moments, and the the next week look like a lost kid.
If he were to play as well as he can, usual have 3 losses in the end.
Reading coverages, accurate throws, without staring.....is NOT what he's going to give us.

You are correct. He is infallible. No coach is perfect. I do not share the confidence he appears to have in 5 based on the latter's struggles reading defenses. How many times have you seen him change the play at the line of scrimmage? He has not demonstrated the ability to keep his eyes downfield to extend a pass play? Instead he takes off. I guarantee that next year opposing defenses will keep 5 from running very effectively because he is unable to make them pay by pushing the ball downfield.
The lack of objectivity about QB play at LSU is astounding. Outside of Metttenberger, Burrow and maybe a couple others the program has had mediocre play at QB at best. Sometimes it was awful. I wonder sometimes whether CLM did not actively try to inhibit the development of QBs. 5 is not awful, but he is not suited to the position inasmuch as he will not lead this team to SEC championship let alone a NC.
We saw the same things he did all year in the Citrus Bowl. The SEC will field much better defenses than the hapless Purdue Boilermakers did. The contrast with Nuss is stark, but some here cling to the misguided thought that 5 can run the Tigers' offense to a championship. Well, I guess we shall see.

You leave out NIl money and he gets very little sitting behind Daniels another year
He could start for at least 7 teams next season and get $$$ doing it
Why would he not do that?

Daniels is not nearly as bad as some of you seem to think
He has a good arm, and he's accurate. Honestly, he's more consistently accurate than Nuss has been, because when you watch, Nuss throws the occasional flyer.
The biggest issue this year was that he was deliberate, a bit slow with his passing decisions. I think 2 things, outside of the new scheme he was in, played into that...
1) I think Kelly preaches ball security. We have a good offense and a good group of starters on defense, with some depth issues. Goal was to play straight up, limit how much possessions you give the opponent, and stay in the game. Win it late. We did that, by and large; won the SEC West.
2) I also think Daniels is trying to transition from a running QB to a pocket guy who can move. I think he was "still thinking" on about every play, instead of playing instinctively:
I want to pass. Is he open?... maybe. I can run for a first down, though I don't really want to. OK, now he's open -Passes the ball.
It didn't help that the guy he came to play with, Boutte, dropped everything early. So then he's thinking, is he open AND will catch it?
He got past that as he shifted to Nabers and Taylor, but he still fought with the scramble instincts.
I think next year will be a lot more fluid for him.
I think Nuss will be well served to watch Daniels NOT turn the ball over, and watch the reads. Why didn't he throw it deep that time?- because the safety was creeping over, so he hits Taylor instead. You hit Taylor and the backs enough, the secondary plays closer, and THEN you can throw deep, and that safety won't be a threat.
If/when Nuss takes the job, I want him to run the offense, not just sling it because he can.
Nuss's interception against Purdue was on 1st and Goal, inside the 10. No pressure. Throw it away if it ain't there, you have 2 more downs to score a TD, and walk away with a chip shot FG if you don't get in. That's the stuff that has to be coached away.

He is in fallible
Infallible? No, but he knows what is best for LSU better than most of us. We’re not paying him $100 million to not be able to evaluate talent.
Also he appears to have more respect for a quarterback who’s able to put up 3800 total yards, 28 total touchdowns, 69% completion with three interceptions, and scores the final eight points in overtime to be able to beat our arch rival which gets us the west title.
