One of my favorites is "here's the windup and the pitch.....where did that miss?"

Umm...I don't know, that's what I was hoping you would attempt to explain. But if someone isn't worried about game details, what the pitch was, etc...I can see how that wouldn't bother them.

Instead of addressing the actual criticism, you go for personal attacks. That tells me I'm right and you know it, but won't admit it.

Holy shite...someone said this?

I would argue that of all the sports on TV, he is the color analyst that knows the MOST about the sport he covers and the teams involved.

You have never heard anyone else refer to a base as a "sack"? Really?

I think Red Barber said it in 1953. Maybe the pitcher could "toss the pill" too.

really?

oh nevermind I see, you need him to say pitch was 1.5" high or if it was 1.5" low... my bad.
Critical pitch details is critical.

He didn't say him by name, I used him as an example because he called the game today, and has called every LSU game on ESPN.

But Ben McDonald has called our games before and he's excellent as well.

Holy shite you're a fricking troll. Asking for the announcer to actually say what's going on and not immediately just complain about it is not some unreasonable request. It's the basics of calling the game.

I was in the car when the play with the throwing error where we scored happened
It was a complete mess, i literally had no idea what was going on until Franques got on to describe it

No, I would like him to tell me if it was a fastball, curveball, changeup, etc...even though he isn't very good at that either, just do his best....and then say it looked good but must have missed outside, up, inside, low, or whatever.

But for some people who don't give a shite, don't know the difference, or are just simple mouth breathers...I can see where details aren't important.

I honestly don't mean to do so....but MY God, you people take this shite to another level.
You really do.

Fact is if the majority of LSU fans felt this way JH would have been gone a long time ago.

Ive listen to Jim, Charlie, Bill F and Kevin Ford call LSU games.
I'll take the bad with good from JH over the rest of those everyday of the week and I honestly belive most LSU fans would agree.

I'll give TIGRLEE credit for one thing, we've gone this far in a Hawthorne thread and he has yet to call anyone a "fricking liar" for saying they've actually listened to other broadcasters before. He must be slipping, or it's going to happen real soon.

i've been listening to Jim as long as i can remember, probably around 86'. and no one else can get you as excited, but he's definitely dropped off.

last year listening to the Ole miss game while i was on the road was something else. i literally had no idea what was going on. it was just terrible to the 9th degree.

hmmm,.. help me understand.... if he says "where did that miss?" how could he tell you where it missed?

I've heard him say low and outside prob 659,000 times.
in the dirt prob 578,000 times
high at the chest maybe 785,000 times
so when says where did that miss?,.. that tells me it was a pitch that was pretty damn close to the strike zone.

oh BTW... God forbid charlie or whoever else chime in and answer the question.. I mean arent they suppose to be working as a team?

This is you projecting your feelings onto other people because you think you are right. The truth is, you have zero clue how the majority of LSU fans feel.

And you're about the alpha water head. I didn't say I'd never heard a base referred to as a sack, I have. I said I've never heard of a third basemen....the guy that plays third, to clarify....referred to as a third sacker.

Take some time to make sure you comprehend a post before you respond to it, especially when you're going to criticize every one else's level of sophistication...maybe you won't look like such a retard next time.
