No, but I do mean that Jim makes multiple large mistakes every game. Seriously, when was the last time you were forced to listen to him on the radio without the aid of a TV in front of you? I had to this weekend a few times, and it was so bad, I just started to keep track in the game thread. It was more reliable.

saying something in a different language doesn't make you sound smart. it makes you sound like an arse.

The sad thing is that all of you are sitting there in your living rooms waiting like a spider for that mistake so you can show up here and agonize over it.
no, the sad thing is that i'm forced to listen to Jim babble incoherently for 3 hours when I really just want to know what's going on during the game. I don't want him to be bad. I don't want him to make mistakes. But when I can't tell what's going on during an important part of a ball game, then the play-by-play guy just isn't doing his job. Bill corrected Jim no fewer than 4 or 5 times each game this weekend. honestly, Bill sounded frustrated at Jim, just like Charlie does at times.
I love Jim. I've had the pleasure of talking to and interviewing him a few times, and he tells quite a few memorable stories. But he's just getting too old for the job.

you actually asked someone to make a list earlier in the thread
that's their thing
they ask people to make a list, then when someone does, they attack the person for actually making one
these people are not rational people

For the fricking 14th time, I made a list, in this thread, of legitimate criticisms of Hawthorne's broadcasts.
Yes you did and I'm sure you are proud of it.

I'm not sure why you choose to so vehemently attack posters on a personal level that bring up reasonable points.
Is it unreasonable to ask you to give specific examples?
Is it unreasonable for you to tell us how many times in each game has Jim made each of these mistakes?
Is it unreasonable to ask if each and every mistakes is made each and every game?
Is it unreasonable to ask if there have been any games in which one of thse mistakes wasn't made?

Good grief this is still going on?
Rational people go on for this many pages knocking one guy?
If you have to go that far to defend your hate, maybe you need to examine a few things. Ya think?

The hate in this thread is coming from only one side of the aisle, the people rabidly defending Hawthorne by way of personal attack.
The reasonable people in this thread have been able to raise their issues with Hawthorne's broadcast without resorting to personal attacks on either him, or the people that disagree with us.
If you're wondering why the thread is still going, it's because we're still trying to get anyone with the opposing viewpoint to have a reasonable conversation instead of merely slinging insults.

without addressing the actual issue.

He makes mistakes during a live two or three hour broadcast where the action takes place in seconds. How dare him not paint a picture with his words to your liking!

Lucky for Hawthorne, those defining his job duties at LSU and evaluating them aren't you guys. Must suck for y'all that LSU values the job he does for them and will retain him for years to come.
Why dont you man up and contact Hawthorne with your advice as to how he could do a better job rather than take shots at him on a board.
I'm sure both he and LSU will give your complaints the attention they deserve.

My $0.02...
Hawthorne is a great voice and an avid booster of the brand. He does not leave you with silence to fill on the air.
He is however very difficult to follow at times on the game thread. I usually am listening to him on the football games. He is not the most accurate source of info when listening.
Example: Against USCe last season when JH33 broke his big run late in the game. You will not find a track of Hawthorne on this one because he called him Jeremy "Phillips". So the only audio you will find is the network guys who I think was Musberger. You might find one of Lynn Rollins on CST.

I don't know about you, but I don't see a lot of love from your side of the aisle flowing toward Harthorne. I mean calling him "fricking" terrible" or I "fricking hate him" doesn't read like love to me.

See above.

None? I'll admit that I'm too lazy to go back over it but I am pretty sure that some harsh things were written about Hawthorne's defenders.

Define reasonable conversation. By that do you mean one that will agree with you?
I've read a couple of posters that seem to have no trouble following Jim and that support him. I'm one. I don't mind him calling a base a sack ( which appears to be a sticking point), I don't mind if he pauses to let the play happen. I don't mind if his point of view from the press box is sometimes obscured and he makes an incorrect call. And I can handle it if he is just flat out wrong.
Maybe I'm just a little more tolerant and, yes, reasonable. As for those that insist that if they made his level of errors in their jobs, they would be fired, I'm betting that they do (unless they are a surgeon) but they don't have to bear with the scrutiny of thousands of people that know less about their jobs than they do, think that they know more and are too quick to join a gripe group.

Link to every post other than Lester Earl's that said that, please.

You don't need to go back. Tigerlee and Gray Tiger are the ones spewing vitriol.

I wouldn't mind that either. But he doesn't do that, as has been brought up in this thread.

That was the only one? Count again.
But it's pool time. I really do love this site. It is always fascinating to read. I read a couple more but this is an original.
I've never read a more hate filled and vicious site. And that is against each other. It seems that ya'll feed off hatred. Hatred of the coaches, players, announcers, facilities, each other, more so than of opponents. Most of it is unreasoned and more than a little scary. But is is always entertaining.

Dug up a random thread I started to track his mistakes in game at Tulane a few years ago. These quotes are from posters relaying his memorable calls that particular night. Some things never change:
"Here's the 0-2 to pitch to Dean and heeeee..............."
"Heres the first pitch of the inning, swing in a miss, its 1 ball no strikes"
Jim "That one didn't miss by much"
Bill "He called it a strike"
"He just got the SS's name wrong"
"Chopped down the first base line, picked up ...AWWWW dropped by the first baseman. He's out. What happened?"
Then the next time he explains the play he says the pitcher actually fielded the ball and threw to the first baseman and then he dropped it
"He was directly under the ball, and then it fell behind him"
